MLB Injury Report for Saturday, June 29, 2024.

Philadelphia Phillies – Team Update

While both Bryce Harper (hamstring) and Kyle Schwarber (groin) have avoided a serious injury, their absence will test the Phillies and their depth as a team over the next 10 days. There have been reports that they will return to action before the All-Star Break, but nothing is substantial enough to warrant any serious thought.

Zac Gallen – SP Arizona Diamondbacks (hamstring)

Be prepared.

Gabriel Moreno – C Arizona Diamondbacks (thumb)

Today is a big day for Moreno. If all goes well with his five innings of work, he should be reinstated as early as Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Eduardo Rodriguez – SP Arizona Diamondbacks (shoulder)

Rodriguez has been out of action all season and has been looking to make his debut for quite some time. He has suffered setbacks when being pushed too quickly, so the team would be wise to learn from their mistakes and take their time here.

George Springer – OF Toronto Blue Jays (hand)

The good news is that there is no sign of a fracture here and that it’s likely just a bruise or a contusion. Either way, there is a chance that Springer will return to the lineup in the near future, though that will depend on how he feels when he arrives at the ballpark later today.

Atlanta Braves – Team Update

AJ Minter (hip) will make his third rehab appearance, which will hopefully be his last. He last pitched for the Braves exactly one month ago. As for Michael Harris (hamstring), once he resumes running, it would seem that he would be close to a rehab assignment. Finally, Ramon Laureano (back) has missed two straight games with back soreness and might get back into the lineup once he’s healthy.

Cincinnati Reds – Team Update

It looks like the Reds will be receiving reinforcements in the form of Jake Fraley (calf) and Jeimer Candelario (knee) very soon. That being said, Candelario could head to the Injured List if this issue persists.

Trevor Williams – SP Washington Nationals (elbow)

Williams last pitched on May 30 and, one month later, he has yet to begin a throwing program. The team may opt to place him on the 60-day Injured List at some point.

Washington Nationals – Team Update

Jesse Winker (knee) got his foot tangled up at the wall while chasing down a fly ball. He made a spectacular catch but went down in a heap of pain. Consider him DTD for now until we’re told otherwise. As for CJ Abrams (hand), he got hit by a pitch around the same spot where his cyst was, hence the amount of pain he was experiencing. It’s looking like he will be okay to play soon enough, though he may need some rest beforehand.

Josh Jung – 3B Texas Rangers (wrist)

Jung was supposed to test his wrist yesterday, but continued wrist soreness due to inflammation caused a delay of one day. If the inflammation backs off, then he will be able to test his wrist out today. That delay, of only one day, is concerning. It feels like they’re pushing the issue here and are risking further damage. Delaying things one day doesn’t seem like enough to allow for enough healing. That being said, the medical professionals know what they’re doing so hopefully everything works out.

San Francisco Giants – Team Update

It was revealed that Thairo Estrada (wrist) was playing through this injury and others, spending time after games wrapped in ice. It feels like this is something that he needs before returning after the All-Star Break. As for Wilmer Flores (knee), this will give him a chance to heal as well, as he’s had just four hits over the past two weeks.
