NASCAR DFS: Bank of America ROVAL 400 Picks

It’s time to go road racing for the final time in 2024! Similar to last week, where we wrapped up the drafting tracks, this week we take in the final road course race of the season. NASCAR is home in Charlotte running the oval/road course layout. Hence why it’s creatively called the ROVAL. In this week’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 picks we’ll find some familiar faces when it comes to road course specialists. This is a cut off race for the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. And we really do need to see some big waves in this race for a dramatic shift in the standings. Joey Logano is currently the first playoff driver outside the pictures. He’s 13 points below the cut line. Unless there’s absolute chaos in this race, the Round of Eight is almost set. Let’s take a look at Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 picks!

Bank of America ROVAL 400 Picks: The Top 10

  1. Shane van Gisbergen (#13 Kaulig Racing)
  2. Tyler Reddick (#45 23XI Racing)
  3. J. Allmendinger (#16 Kaulig Racing)
  4. Joey Logano (#22 Team Penske)
  5. Austin Cindric (#2 Team Penske)
  6. Kyle Larson (#5 Hendrick Motorsports)
  7. Chase Elliott (#9 Hendrick Motorsports)
  8. Brad Keselowski (#6 RFK Racing)
  9. Bubba Wallace (#23 23XI Racing)
  10. William Byron (#24 Hendrick Motorsports)

As fate would have it, the top three look surprisingly familiar. SVG, Reddick, and Allmendinger led off this week’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 preview article. I suppose it only makes sense for all three to start up front for our Bank of America ROVAL 400 picks. SVG swept qualifying winning the pole for both the Xfinity Series and the Cup Series. Saturday’s Xfinity Series race didn’t go as planned. He finished third and as such, was eliminated from the playoffs. But still, he finished third in his debut at the track. But on Sunday he has a legitimate shot at redemption. And among the entire top 10 we have some solid road course drivers. I will say I’m not wildly optimistic about the chances of Logano, Keselowski, or Wallace. None of those drivers are road ringers by any means, but hey, they qualified well to their own credit.

Which Value-Priced Bank of America ROVAL 400 Picks Got A Points Movement Bump?

DraftKings

  • Chase Briscoe – $7,000; Starting P25
  • Noah Gragson – $6,600; Starting P32
  • Josh Berry – $6,400; Starting P36
  • Justin Haley – $6,200; Starting P33
  • Erik Jones – $6,000; Starting P37
  • Ryan Preece – $5,600; Starting P34
  • Josh Bilicki – $5,000; Starting P38

FanDuel

  • Martin Truex Jr. – $7,500; Starting P30
  • Chase Briscoe – $6,500; Starting P25
  • Noah Gragson – $5,200; Starting P35
  • Justin Haley – $5,000; Starting P33
  • Josh Berry – $4,500; Starting P36
  • Ryan Preece – $4,000; Starting P34
  • Erik Jones – $3,000; Starting P37

I tried to keep the value options contained for this article. All too often I tend to go overboard, including last week. And just because these drivers start deep in the field, doesn’t make them locks. Yes, for road courses we want to target position differential. But it’s not a great look when all four Stewart-Haas Racing cars qualified poorly. But they also aren’t the biggest road ringers in the series anyway. Briscoe basically needs to win the race to move on to the next round. He’s 32 points below the cut line so he needs a miracle. We can mix and match some of these plays, but Gragson is probably the one I think has the best chance to score a top 20 finish. Aside from that, I’m not wild about most of these value plays for our Bank of America ROVAL 400 picks.

Which Higher-Priced Drivers Got A Similar Bump?

  • Chris Buescher – Starting P29
  • Michael McDowell – Starting P21
  • Martin Truex Jr. – Starting P30 (DraftKings)

I didn’t talk about MTJ much in the value section. Truthfully, I needed to save him to have someone else to talk about in this range. However, he’s a tremendous value on FanDuel. All three of these drivers provide intrigue for our Bank of America ROVAL 400 picks. Buescher won at Watkins Glen just a handful of weeks ago. He’s a very underrated road course driver. McDowell won the Indy Road Course race back in 2023 when NASCAR didn’t have breaks between stages. But as good as he’s been on road courses, he doesn’t have a single top 10 finish at the ROVAL in six career races. Truex is a bit puzzling. He used to be considered one of the best road ringers in the Cup Series. Nowadays, he has one foot out the door waiting for retirement.

Bank of America ROVAL 400 Picks

DraftKings

  • Tyler Reddick – $9,300; Starting P2
  • Chris Buescher – $9,100; Starting P29
  • Ty Gibbs – $8,500; Starting P19
  • Kyle Busch – $8,300; Starting P11
  • Alex Bowman – $8,100; Starting P17
  • Noah Gragson – $6,600; Starting P32

We took a fairly balanced lineup approach with this play. We get some win equity with Tyler Reddick, who only sits 14 points above the cut off line. But we get position differential and a good amount of top 10 equity with this lineup. I don’t want to commit to this build for cash games. Kyle Busch doesn’t jump off the page as a cash eligible driver. However, I do think he can steal a top five in this race and he does make the lineup unique as we already have trendy plays like Reddick, Buescher, Gibbs, and Gragson.

FanDuel

  • J. Allmendinger – $13,500; Starting P3
  • Chris Buescher – $10,500; Starting P29
  • Michael McDowell – $9,000; Starting P21
  • Alex Bowman – $8,500; Starting P17
  • Ross Chastain – $8,200; Starting P16

This build sees some carryover from the DraftKings lineup. Utilizing our Bank of America ROVAL 400 picks, we go back to the well with Buescher and Bowman. But find ways to make it unique still. This build pivots off Reddick for Allmendinger, who won this race a year ago. And we play Michael McDowell, who doesn’t have great track history, but is a good road course driver. And we round it out with Ross Chastain, who might be off everyone’s radar. He’s similar to playing Kyle Busch in the DraftKings lineup. We also aren’t that far removed from Ross Chastain winning a few weeks ago and he has a win at COTA on his resume.

White Flag Thoughts Before You Go

As always with road courses, we don’t prioritize the dominator points. Because of the stage breaks, some drivers will pit at the end of the first stage to gain track position in stage two. I will say that drivers who have nothing to race for will likely take the track position. The win means more to them if they aren’t playoff eligible. Someone like Shane van Gisbergen, who isn’t a full-time Cup Series driver, can certainly pit for strategy and track position. He’d rather win than collect meaningless playoff points. By comparison, Joey Logano and Austin Cindric are two drivers starting in the top 10 that might be chasing the stage points as they need them more. Don’t buy into too many of the value plays starting deep because they’ll need chaos to move up. Best of luck with Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 picks!
