NFL DFS Late Slate Picks Week 2

Welcome to the Late Slate. This week it will be what is the traditional late slate afternoon games on Sunday. Both DraftKings and FanDuel run a series of tournaments and cash games that are just for the late afternoon slate of games. If you read my Money Makers and Heart Breakers for the Main Slate you know how the write-ups will go for the most part. We only talk about who to play in this one. So without further ado, here are my favorite Week 2 NFL DFS picks on DraftKings and FanDuel for the Sunday afternoon games.

Week 2 NFL DFS Picks for the Late Slate

Quarterbacks

Patrick Mahomes

The Chiefs play the Bengals in Wee 2. It is at Arrowhead Stadium with a pretty high over-under of 48 points. History tells us that these teams will go at each other hard and score some points. In Week 1 Mahomes passed for 291 yards and 1 touchdown. You can expect him to add another touchdown or 2 to this type of total in Week 2 against the Bengals.

$8,700 on FanDuel

Matthew Stafford

In Week 1 Stafford passed the ball 49 times for 317 yards and 1 touchdown. The Rams play the Cardinals in Week 2. The Cardinals gave up the most fantasy points in Week 1 to a quarterback and Josh Allen smashed this Cardinals for 271 total yards and 4 touchdowns. I know the Rams lost Puka Nacua for at least a few games, but this team can pass the ball and will a lot in in this game.

Running Backs

Isaiah Pacheco

Yes, another Chiefs player this early in the article. Why? Because in Week 1 the Bengals were torched by Rhamondre Stevenson for 126 total yards and a touchdown. Pacheco had 78 total yards and a touchdown himself in Week 1. I expect Pacheco to get his usual 17 to  20 touches in Week 2 and there will be production to get him to 15 or so fantasy points.

$6,900 on DraftKings
$7,400 on FanDuel

Zack Moss

In Week 1 Zack Moss handled 65% of the Bengals running back snaps. He only had 11 touches, but he turned that into 61 total yards and a touchdown. In Week 1 the Chiefs gave up 185 yards and a touchdown rushing to the Ravens. If you play some Chiefs in the Late Slate, run it back with Moss at a very reasonable price.

$5,600 on DraftKings
$6,300 on FanDuel

Najee Harris

Najee acted as the clear lead running back for the Steelers in Week 1. He had 212 total touches netting him 79 yards. Look for his touch total to be at or around 20 again in Week 2. Volume is king and he has that volume for the Steelers.

$5,500 on DraftKings
$6,600 on FanDuel

James Conner

Prior to Week 1 Conner was declared the featured running back for the Cardinals. He went out and had 83 total yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against a tough Bills defense. In Week 2 he gets to play against the Chargers. I look for Conner to be involved in the passing game, he was third on the team in targets in Week 1. Conner will also be the primary ball carrier. The volume will be somewhere between 18 and 25 total touches.

Wide Receivers

Rashee Rice

28% target share is what Rice commanded in Week 1. He was and is the clear top option in the Chiefs passing game. Rice took his 9 targets and turned them into 7 receptions and 103 yards. Expect Rice to continue to connect with Mahomes in Week 2.

$8,200 on DraftKings
$6,900 on FanDuel

Devaughn Vele

In Week 1 Vele saw 8 targets from Bo Nix. That was the second-most on the team and a 19% target share. He caught all 8 for 39 yards. Bo Nix found someone he could connect with. That was 11.9 fantasy points on DraftKings. If you want a low-priced option that can push you over 10 points allowing you to pay up elsewhere Vele could be that guy.

$3,400 on DraftKings
$4,700 on FanDuel

Greg Dortch

Greg Dortch was on the field for 61% of the Cardinals’ offensive snaps. Kyler Murray targeted Dortch 8 times. This was second on the team in targets. That became a total of 6 receptions and 47 yards. Dortch led the Cardinals in receptions and receiving yards in week 1. Easy double-digit fantasy production coming your way with Dortch in Week 2.

$4,900 on FanDuel

Cooper Kupp

Let us all take a step back and just look at the incredible target volume Kupp had in Week 1. His target share was 42.8% we can just round that up to 43. Kupp saw 21 targets. With Puka Nacua on the shelf in Week 2 you can expect this same amount of massive target volume from Kupp against the Cardinals. This is the second-highest over-under on the main slate with a total of 49. I wonder what Kupp and Stafford will be talking about at breakfast.

$7,700 on FanDuel

Tight Ends

Colby Parkinson

Parkinson totaled 4 receptions and 47 yards in Week 1. He played on 88% of the offensive snaps. With Puka Nacua out there will be some targets to spread around. He scored the 7th most fantasy points for a tight end in Week 1.

$3,100 on DraftKings
$4,800 on FanDuel

Noah Gray

Gray was on the field for 54% of the Chiefs offensive snaps. He saw 3 targets which he turned into 3 receptions and 37 yards. I know it is not amazing production. That was 1 target less than Travis Kelce saw in Week 1. It’s also 3 yards more than Kelce totaled. Gray may see some targets and produce with limited touches. He is a good low-priced option to free up money for other positions.

$2,800 on DraftKings
$4,600 on FanDuel

DEF

Steelers

The Steelers defense scored 12 fantasy points in Week 1. They had 2 sacks, 2 interceptions, and a fumble recovery. The Broncos gave up similar stats to the Seahawks in Week 1. I Would expect a few sacks here and some interceptions. I like the Steelers’ defense in this late slate.
