NFL Injury Report – Week 1 (Pre-Season Edition)

Injuries are an unfortunate part of fantasy football. But they also offer an area where you can gain an advantage over your competition. Knowing which players will take the field each week, and then identifying the top available replacements for those that don’t, can earn you a few extra victories during the regular season. They just might help you eek out a playoff win too!

Each week during the NFL season Fantrax will be collecting all the NFL injury news from every available source and then bringing that to you in one neat little package. Then with a little help with the rest of our incredible fantasy football advice, you’ll be armed with all the knowledge you need to weather the storm of injuries on your own teams, and maybe even take advantage of those on other teams.

NFL Injury Report Pre-Season Wrap

This week’s NFL Injury Report will help get you up to speed on all the injuries and changes of status that have occurred during the preseason. Then on Saturday we’ll update you on those last-minute changes of status that will affect your fantasy football line-ups.

Arizona Cardinals

  • QB Kyler Murray has been ruled OUT for at least the first four games of the season, as he was placed on the team’s PUP List: Adam Schefter
  • TE Zach Ertz is QUESTIONABLE to play in Week One: Darren Urban

Atlanta Falcons

  • RB Cordarrelle Patterson is QUESTIONABLE to play, as the team is being cautious with his return: Josh Kendall

Baltimore Ravens

  • TE Mark Andrews is QUESTIONABLE despite looking good while running at practice: Jamison Hensley
  • QB Tyler Huntley is QUESTIONABLE to play, but he did some on-field work at practice. The team does not foresee him heading to the Injured Reserve: Jeff Zrebiec

Buffalo Bills

  • QB Matt Barkley is OUT after being placed on the team’s Injured Reserve: Buffalo Bills PR

Carolina Panthers

  • WR DJ Chark is QUESTIONABLE to play Week 1, though he remains adamant in doing so: Steve Reed
  • RB Miles Sanders is QUESTIONABLE, but has said that he will play in Carolina’s Week 1 game: David Newton
  • PK Eddy Pineiro is QUESTIONABLE, but he did kick up to 43 yards at his latest practice: David Newton

Chicago Bears

  • WR Chase Claypool is QUESTIONABLE to play Week 1, but there is confidence that he will in fact play: Kevin Fishbain

Cincinnati Bengals

  • QB Joe Burrow is QUESTIONABLE to play, but he did participate in all throwing drills at practice and is believed to be in a good place going forward in order to be ready for Week 1: Ben Baby

Cleveland Browns

  • WR Jerry Jedy is OUT for Week 1, and is expected to miss several weeks: Field Yates

  • WR Amon-Ra St. Brown is QUESTIONABLE for Week 1, but he has been practicing with the team: Tim Twentyman

  • RB Jonathan Taylor is OUT because of (and not limited to) lingering soreness from ankle surgery in January: Tom Pelissero

  • WR Cooper Kupp is QUESTIONABLE to play, as he suffered a setback with his hamstring, which is now classified as a muscle strain: Andrew Siciliano

  • WR Jaylen Waddle is QUESTIONABLE to play Week 1, though he is feeling better and expects to play: David Furones

Minnesota Vikings

  • TE T.J.j Hockenson is QUESTIONABLE for Week 1, though head coach Kevin O’Connell fully expects him to play after being a full participant in practice: Ben Goessling

New England Patriots

  • WR DeVante Parker is QUESTIONABLE after having missed two straight practices; league sources say that he will be fine: Andrew Callahan
  • TE Mike Gesicki is QUESTIONABLE, but did get rid of his non-contact jersey a few days ago, which shows a progression toward returning to the field for games: Mike Reiss

New Orleans Saints

  • WR Tre-Quan Smith is DOUBTFUL to play in Week 1 as he is still recovering from a medical procedure last month: Jeff Duncan
  • TE Taysom Hill is QUESTIONABLE to play, but he was back at practice earlier this week: Katherine Terrell

New York Giants

  • RB Breece Hall is PROBABLE to play in Week 1, but the team will be cautious with how much volume he is given: Rich Cimini
  • WR Allen Lazard is QUESTIONABLE, though he did practice earlier in the week: Eric Allen

  • WR Quez Watkins is QUESTIONABLE, though he has been practicing with the team: Zach Berman
