NHL Injury Report

Day-to-Day Report

This section covers players who are simply day-to-day and shouldn’t be much of a concern for fantasy hockey GMs.

  • J.J. Peterka – RW, Buffalo Sabres (Concussion)
  • John Drouin – LW, Colorado Avalanche (Upper-Body)
  • Matt Dumba – D, Dallas Stars (lower-body)
  • Matthew Tkachuk – LW, Florida Panthers (Illness)
  • Jared Spurgeon – D, Minnesota Wild (Lower-Body)
  • Joel Eriksson Ek – C, Minnesota Wild (Upper-Body)
  • Macklin Celebrini – C, San Jose Sharks (lower-body)
  • Joseph Woll – G, Toronto Maple Leafs (lower-body)
  • Matt Roy – D, Washington Capitals (Lower-Body)

Injury Reserve Report

Players in this section have been placed on the IR by their respective NHL teams. If a player is placed on the IR, they will miss at least seven games before returning.

  • John Gibson – G, Anaheim Ducks (Appendectomy)
  • Nicholas Aube-Kubel – RW, Buffalo Sabres (Lower-body)
  • Yegor Sharangovich – C, Calgary Flames (Lower-body)
  • Laurent Brossoit – G, Chicago Blackhawks (Knee)
  • Artturi Lehkonen – LW, Colorado Avalanche (Shoulder)
  • Boone Jenner – C, Columbus Blue Jackets (upper-body)
  • Alexsander Barkov – C, Florida Panthers (lower-body)
  • Arthur Kaliyev – RW, Los Angeles Kings (Clavicle)
  • Patrik Laine – RW, Montreal Canadiens (knee)
  • Brett Pesce – D, New Jersey Devils (leg)
  • Luke Hughes – D, New Jersey Devils (shoulder)
  • Thatcher Demko – G, Vancouver Canucks (knee)
  • William Karlsson – C, Vegas Golden Knights (Undisclosed)

Long-Term Injury Reserve Report

The following players have been placed on the LTIR by their respective NHL teams. Furthermore, LTIR allows the team to exceed the NHL’s salary cap, however, if a player is placed on the LTIR, they will need to miss at least 10 NHL games and 24 calendar days before returning.

  • Gabriel Landeskog – LW, Colorado Avalanche (Knee)
  • Evander Kane – LW, Edmonton Oilers (Hip)
  • Drew Doughty – D, Los Angeles Kings (ankle)

Depending on how your league is set up, you likely will have a spot or two in the IR. If your player is listed as day-to-day, you shouldn’t use the IR spot unless it means increasing your chance to win the week. However, in most cases, GMs typically wait out the injury as it only lasts a few days.

If your player is listed in the IR section of this list, you should place them on the IR and pick up another player that’s on the free agent list. When you get the Doughty or Kane, their injuries will keep them out for the bulk of the season, which could result in the GMs releasing them and looking for an alternative option.

Be sure to check back in next week for an updated NHL weekly injury report. Until then, best of luck dealing with your team’s injuries!
