With the 2017 season now officially in the rearview mirror, and with the Houston Astros first-time champions, we turn our attention to the 2018 fantasy baseball season. Each week, I will be evaluating one player’s stock for next year. This week, we look at Josh Harrison, a former All-Star whose stock had fallen somewhat in recent years but who demonstrated some encouraging signs of a turnaround in 2017. Josh Harrison, Pittsburgh Pirates, 2B/3B 2017 statistics: .272/.339/.432, 16 home runs, 12 stolen bases General Overview…

Fantasy EPL: Week 11 Review / Week 12 Preview

The World Cup playoff qualifiers have come and passed, so now it’s time to bring the focus back to our beloved English Premier League, including what to expect this week from players such as Sadio Mane, Alexandre Lacazette and Richarlison. WEEK 11: Fantasy EPL REVIEW In Week 11 we had six out of the 10 games end in a 1-0 score and only one tie (the first game). What that means is plenty of clean sheets and points for goalkeepers and defenders. The highlight from those 1-0 matches was Chelsea’s win over Manchester United,…

Fantasy Football: Week 11 Rankings

Good news, everyone. This is the final bye week of the season! The Panthers, Jets, Colts, and 49ers will all take a week off, but owners will receive a big boost with Kareem Hunt, Carson Wentz and Amari Cooper returning to lineups. Week 11 is full of serious playoff implications, but as far as fantasy goes, this could be the week for Leonard Fournette ... or is it? When we see the Browns pop on any schedule, we automatically expect a blockbuster fantasy week from the opposing team. But would you believe the Browns have…

Fantasy Football: Week 11 Running Back Matchup Report

The New Orleans Saints’ trio of Mark Ingram, Alvin Kamara, and Trey Edmunds became the first trio of running back teammates to each have at least 10 fantasy points in the same game since Week 3 of the 2016 season. Not to be outdone, the Carolina Panthers repeated the feat the very next night as Christian McCaffrey, Jonathan Stewart, and Cameron Artis-Payne all turned the trick against the Miami Dolphins. Ingram and Kamara are continuing their two-man assault on opposing NFL defenses. Both are top-three running backs in…

Trade Analysis: Ryon Healy Sent to Mariners

It is not surprising that Seattle’s Jerry Dipoto started off the hot stove season by trading Emilio Pagan (RHP) and Alexander Campos (SS) to Oakland for Ryon Healy (1B/3B). For fantasy purposes, Healy’s value improved the most. With Matt Olson and Matt Chapman emerging as Oakland’s future at first and third baseman, respectively, the 25-year-old Healy didn’t have a full-time job. Now he does. Seattle used Danny Valencia at first base last season, so Healy looks to be a step up. Last year he hit .271/.302/.451 with 25…

Fantasy Football: Week 11 Tight End Matchup Report

With the absence of two of the top three fantasy tight ends and three of the top four in receiving yardage, it’s not a surprise that tight end fantasy production left a little to be desired in Week 10. Vernon Davis was the only tight end to hit 75 yards, and only four tight ends had double-digit fantasy points. One of those four was Austin Hooper, who posted his second top-five finish in three weeks. Don’t look now, but Hooper is the overall TE7 on the year and has made a significant leap in his second season. Garrett Celek…

MLB Hot Stove Preview

Now that the Houston Astros have won the World Series, we have officially entered the "hot stove league" portion of the baseball season. According to MLB.com, "In the early days of baseball, Hot Stove Season referred to an actual baseball season: Hot Stove Leagues, in which MLB players would stay in shape by playing baseball in their hometowns while staying warm with actual hot stoves. The term soon expanded to become a kind of predecessor to the water cooler -- on a cold day, fans would gather around the hot stove to…
