Weekly Prospect Update: St. Louis Cardinals

It's official: The 2017 Major League Baseball season is finally in the books. The Houston Astros are world champions for the first time in their franchise history, and their success can be attributed to their young core of stars. Many of today's biggest stars are 27 and younger, and new top prospects are waiting for their shot. For the St. Louis Cardinals, the season has been over for quite some time. They missed out on the playoffs this year, but the young players they have waiting in the farm are ready to make an impact.…

Fantasy Football: Week 9 Quarterback Matchup Report

Deshaun Watson Injury Nothing much has gone on in the QB world, so where should I begin? Oh, I know, I’ll start with the freaking torn ACL for the man that has carried many fantasy teams, including half of mine, for the last seven weeks. Unfortunately, I'm talking about Deshaun Watson. This news stung so bad. I wanted to use words stronger than “freaking” to describe this Watson injury, but swearing in articles isn’t really recommended. Why did Watson have to tear his ACL? This is just cruel. With Watson done for the…

Fantasy EPL: Week 10 Review / Week 11 Preview

WEEK 10: Fantasy EPL REVIEW Last week started with Manchester United squeezing out another tightly contested victory, this time against the Kane-less Spurs. A remarkably simple goal by sub Anthony Martial, uncommon these days for an elite league, was the difference. Then, we had the remaining four members of the “Big 6” collect all three points each. Manchester City’s and Liverpool’s wins were relatively easy, even though City’s 3-2 final score at West Brom suggests otherwise. Fernandinho and Sane collaborated on the first…

Fantasy Football: Week 9 Running Back Matchup Report

The two big news stories coming out of Week 8 were the denial of Ezekiel Elliott’s request for an injunction and the trade of Jay Ajayi from the Miami Dolphins to the Philadelphia Eagles. Elliott will likely begin serving his six-game suspension beginning in Week 9, giving fantasy owners some tough decisions to make going forward. As of right now, Elliott is out until Week 15, which is Semifinal week in most fantasy leagues. It’ll be tougher to reach the semifinals without Elliott, who is tied with Todd Gurley for the…

Fantasy Football: Week 9 Rankings

Week 9 should see plenty of hullabaloo. There's two big-time NFC South showdowns between the Saints/Bucs and Panthers/Falcons, and with the Bears, Browns, Chargers, Vikings, Patriots, and Steelers all on a bye this week, you'll likely be exercizing your flex spot to death. There is one big name missing from the rankings, though, and no, it's not Ezekiel Elliott. Terrelle Pryor finally falls outside of the Top 50 after a horror game against the Cowboys last week, and since we're just past the halfway point of the season, who…

Fantasy Football: Week 9 Tight End Matchup Report

There were not a ton of noteworthy fantasy performances by tight ends in Week 8. Then again, the New York Giants had a bye week. Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce earned the top spot in Week 8. He put up 19.3 fantasy points on Monday night, a feat arguably as impressive as going an entire game without being flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. Kelce joins Rob Gronkowski and Zach Ertz as the top fantasy tight ends this season. The three are in a tier amongst themselves. They each have at least 500 yards and at least…

Fantasy College Football: Waiver Wire

If you want to have long-term success in fantasy football, you need to work the wire. Here's a look at the top waiver wire adds of the week, including Pittsburgh's Darrin Hall. Quarterbacks Mike White, WKU % Owned: 38% Mike White was drafted in every league in which he was available, and after a 2016 campaign in which he threw for more than 4,000 yards and 37 touchdowns, owners were expecting more in 2017. His ownership dropped drastically, however, after several subpar performances. In the past three weeks, we seem…

All of the players I've discussed are on teams that are surprisingly decent. I'm sure eventually everything will even out once more games are played. Then again, all of these teams could remain this way throughout the season. It's still…

2018 Player Profile: Jake Lamb

With the 2017 regular season now officially in the rearview mirror, we turn our attention to the 2018 fantasy baseball season. Each week, I will be evaluating one player’s stock for next year. This week, we'll look at Jake Lamb, a first-time All-Star coming off of his second consecutive dismal second half. Jake Lamb, Arizona Diamondbacks 2017 statistics: .248/.357/.487, 30 home runs, 6 stolen bases Beginning in 2016, Jake Lamb fundamentally reinvented his profile, boosting his average exit velocity by about two miles…

Fantasy Basketball Fast Break (Week of 10/30)

Man, this Antetokounmpo kid is pretty good at basketball, huh? Through six games, the Greek Freak has averaged 35.0 points, 10.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.4 steals, and 1.0 blocks on a ridiculous 62.4% from the field. Imagine if he ever decided to start shooting from the outside more. It might just be six games, but Antetokounmpo is fully capable of putting up these numbers over a full season. Well, we didn't have a big name star get injured last week, so that's something. However, all the big stars that got injured last…
