Fantasy Football: Week 8 Wide Receiver Matchup Report

We’re back with another wide receiver matchup report. We stay in the northeast for our four favorable matchups, with all four coming from the same two games. It’s a week heavy on byes, so the options are a little thin this week. If you need a bye week fill-in, our sleeper of the week, Washington's Josh Doctson, is the perfect choice for you. Feel free to follow me on twitter @JonSauber where you can ask me any fantasy questions you may have. Favorable Matchups Keenan Allen @ New England Patriots First up this week is the…

Weekly Prospect Update: Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs saw their crop of top prospects from the past few years win a championship last season. They continued that success in 2017 by winning their division but falling short of another trip to the World Series. While the Cubs will be a very good, young team for the foreseeable future, they still have even more talent waiting for a shot. 10. Justin Steele, LHP Age: 22 Drafted: 2014, Round 5(139) - CHC 2017 stats: (High-A Myrtle Beach): 98.2 IP, 6-7, 2.92 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 82 K, 36 BB. After struggling…

Fantasy Football: Week 8 Quarterback Matchup Report

What in the name of Peyton Manning’s large forehead is going on with Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons offense? They had a juicy matchup with a hobbled New England secondary and could muster only seven points? What’s up with that Matty Ice? Oh, I know. Your offensive coordinator is a joke. There’s too much talent on this offense to bench Ryan, but this is starting to get worrisome. This is the first week with six teams on a bye, leaving us with only 26 QBs on the docket for Week 8. Owners in 2-QB leagues or those who like…

Fantasy EPL: Week 9 Review / Week 10 Preview

WEEK 9: Fantasy EPL REVIEW Week 9 started off with Brighton's first road win in the Premiership. Even though West Ham controlled the game, Brighton made good use of their chances, with Izquierdo and Murray (twice) finding the net. The 34-year-old veteran is back and has brought with him a newfound confidence. Propper and Gross had an assist each. Meanwhile, despite playing a fully healthy squad, The Hammers’ struggles continue. I don’t think a Bilic sack is far on the horizon. Just like in Week 1 against Liverpool,…

Fantasy Football: Week 8 Running Back Matchup Report

Ezekiel Elliott was the undisputed fantasy star of Week 7. Elliott led or tied for the NFL lead among running backs in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns in Week 7. His performance was the second-best of the season in terms of fantasy points, trailing only Kareem Hunt’s opening night heroics. Speaking of Hunt, for the first time this season, he is not the overall RB1 on the year. Todd Gurley has taken over that mantle behind another strong performance. Hunt did manage to eclipse 100…

Fantasy Hockey: Injury Report

It is never easy to foresee the unforeseen. Injuries happen every day in the NHL, and here at FanTrax, our goal will be to help you try to stay on top of those maladies with our weekly Injury Report. Counting all the latest bumps, bites, and bruises, there were 86 players held out of lineups. Several of those are long-term injuries from a previous year. Fantasy Football: Week 8 Rankings

With the Cardinals, Packers, Jaguars, Rams, Giants, and Titans all on a bye this week, regular old football fans are probably praying for more action following Week 7's sedative. Fantasy football fans, however, are once again dealing with the wrath of the bye week, losing a handful of players and replacing them with the likes of Kenny Stills, Dion Lewis, or whoever else is red hot at the moment. It's a tough week as far as rankings are concerned, and with so many injuries occurring to the likes of Dan Bailey and, of course,…

Weekly NBA Recap: The Rebirth of Aaron Gordon

After a long, eventful offseason, we finally have basketball to watch. We’re a week into the season and we’ve already had multiple season-changing injuries, team controversies, major rookie impacts, and a couple of breakouts from former top-10 picks, including Orlando's Aaron Gordon. As always, feel free to ask me any questions on Twitter, @JonSauber. Season-Changing Injuries Gordon Hayward, Boston Celtics Not even a quarter into their opener, the Celtics’ season was turned on its head. Gordon Hayward went down with a…

Fantasy Basketball: Early-Season Surprises

The season is very young, and that means there are lots of things that happen in the NBA that surprise even the most ardent student of the league. Some of these things will continue, while some will fade away like Wade Baldwin’s debut performance last season. I’m going to go through some of my most surprising starts to the 2017-18 NBA season, starting off with Orlando's Nikola Vucevic. Nikola Vucevic - Orlando Magic Vucevic has been on fire to start this season, due in large part to a 41-point, six-triple night against…

Fantasy Football: Week 8 Tight End Matchup Report

Week 7 was a productive one for tight ends as a group. A whopping 16 tight ends, including Dallas' Jason Witten, who we've highlighted below, eclipsed 50 receiving yards, the most in a single week since Week 12 of the 2015 season. We probably will not see a repeat of that number in Week 8, primarily because Week 8 features a season-high six teams on a bye. One of those teams is the New York Giants, which immediately takes two elite tight end options off the board - Giants rookie Evan Engram and whoever the Giants’ opponent…
