Medical Corner: Clayton Kershaw, David Price, Jacob deGrom, and Other Injury Updates

Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers For the record, Kershaw was not in my tier one of starting pitchers. I have no idea why you'd expect more than 150 innings at this point his career. Chronic back problems and the Dodgers' generous utilization of the DL are enough to bump him to the top of tier two for me. Speaking of evaluating Dodgers injuries, it can be a bit tricky because of their ... ahem, shall we say "creative use" of the DL?  So we have two very different scenarios. First, this could be DL manipulation to…

Medical Corner: Eugenio Suarez, Danny Salazar, Joe Musgrove, and Steven Souza

Eugenio Suarez – Thumb "Sprain" Apparently, Mr. Suarez’s fracture was more like a sprain or hairline fracture, based on the fact that he’s already heading out to Triple-A for a rehab assignment. He should return to the Reds lineup by early next week. I can hear the collective sigh from Nick Senzel owners now. Suarez should perform well and experience minimal trouble from the injury.  Expected Return: First week of May Danny Salazar – Shoulder Pain February news divulged that shoulder pain hampered Salazar's works for over…

Drafted Players Portfolio

The success of my 2018 fantasy baseball season weighs heavily on the production of these 14 players. I own each of these players in at least 40% of my leagues. Ten leagues with at least four shares of each. Each league I’m in is unique in its own settings, format, and circumstance. Based on this, a lot of my heavy investments are sliding toward those formats, and players like Joey Votto or even Trever Hildenberger become more…

Usually, it's not a problem we need to sweat. Even in deep formats, savvy owners can usually fill the gaps they left with bad late picks through trades or FAAB bidding. So imagine being in a 15-team league with 50-player rosters that doesn't allow trading or add/drops. That is a reality for me and the 14 owners who paid a $150 entry fee for the chance at a…
