Fantasy Baseball: Bullpen Breakdown – NL West

It’s the love/hate relationship you really love to hate: closers! With a month or so left until Opening Day, now is as good a time as any to start breaking down some bullpen arms ahead of your draft. This series will detail every division across the league, offering you the big names you’ll want to own, as well as the sleepers you need to keep an eye on, and of course some key stats to better prepare you for the big day. Next up, we take a look at the NL West. Team  Closer  Next in Line  Plan C Arizona…

Red Sox Get Their Man, Sign J.D. Martinez to Five-Year Deal

The wait is finally over. Free-agent outfielder J.D. Martinez has agreed to terms with the Red Sox on a five-year deal worth $110 million. The contract is front-loaded with an opt-out clause after the second year of the contract.https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/965714796288073729First off, this is a great move for the Boston Red Sox, who have been looking for a big power bat to plop in the middle of the lineup since David Ortiz retired following the 2016 season. Course Correction: Ketel Marte

This series is typically based on the premise of a player performance "correcting" positively or negatively. In this case, however, we're hoping the correction is actually more of the same. Which is not really a correction at all, I realize, but whatever. This is my space to write! Stop judging me! Ketel Marte showed us some very intriguing developments last year, and he's officially got sleeper appeal.Marte has had fantasy owners, particularly in dynasty leagues, salivating for years. As far back as 2015, he hit .314 and…

Eduardo Nunez Inks Deal With Red Sox

In a much-needed move, the Boston Red Sox have re-signed free-agent swiss army knife, Eduardo Nunez. The deal is for one year with an option for 2019 but is pending a physical, which isn't a sure bet give how his 2017 season ended. Nunez was limited to only 32 at-bats in September due to a sprained PCL and was carted off the field in game 1 of the ALDS against the Houston Astros after re-injuring the knee.https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/964285440441413633Assuming he passes the physical, this is a great move for…

Pitching Prospects Who Lost Value in 2017

I’ve had a series of articles going over various prospects who, for whatever reason, be it the advancement of a single pitch, increased velocity or control, or just general development and maturity, have increased their values going forward. I talked about A.J. Puk, Mike Soroka, and Triston McKenzie, all three young hurlers who have me excited and have made me a believer in their careers. Sometimes the exact opposite happens, though. Occasionally a top flight prospect might lose command or perhaps they just got knocked…
