It’s that time of year again. The All-Star break is almost here and the MLB draft will start on July 9. Earlier this season, I posted my top 100 FYPD rankings. With this update, I have expanded those rankings to 200.
Soon we will have homes for these fantasy baseball prospects. Their values could change post-draft but I feel it’s important for dynasty managers to get a head start on the evaluations. In this article, If you want, you can skip ahead to my 2023 FYPD Rankings, but first I’m going to dive into five FYPD prospects whose stock has shifted since my last update and what I expect long-term out of them. Let’s dive in, shall we?

5 FYPD Prospects To Watch Come Draft Day
Paul Skenes, RHP LSU
From early on this season I saw Paul Skenes as the first overall pick in this year’s MLB Draft. With every start, he just kept getting better and better and the battle between Skenes and Dylan Crews is about to come to a head. Skenes was a transfer from Air Force where he struck out 126 batters in 112.1 innings pitched in his first two seasons. But it’s the work he put in with his lone season at LSU that catapulted him into first-overall talks. Skenes was dominant striking out 209 batters in only 122.2 innings pitched. That’s a 15.3 K/9!
Pair the massive strikeouts with a 1.5 BB/9 and a low 1.69 ERA and pitching in the SEC, and it’s no wonder why he is being called a “once-in-a-decade arm.” I have Paul Skenes going 1.1 to the Pirates who desperately need an ace of the future to lead the team forward.
Brock Wilken, 3B Wake Forest
Wake Forest had a fantastic team this season and Brock Wilken was a big piece of the puzzle. I remember scouting Wilken back in 2021 as a freshman and was impressed at the power in his bat. He later went on to set the freshman home run record at Wake Forest. Wilken also showed off advanced bat-to-ball skills and big raw power in the Cape Cod league. This season Wilken slugged his way to 31 home runs while slashing .345/.506/.807 with 82 RBIs in 66 games played.
Throughout his time at Wake Forest Wilken has shown solid plate discipline and above-average bat-to-ball skills. He’s a top-10 prospect for me in FYPD and from a dynasty perspective for his big power and solid hit tool.
Ty Floyd, RHP LSU
With the final two performances Ty Floyd put up to finish his college career, it’s no surprise that he has risen in multiple mock drafts. Floyd had a solid Junior season for the LSU Tigers, striking out 120 batters in 91 innings pitched across 19 appearances (17 starts). In Floyd’s last two starts, he faced a tough Wake Forest club where he struck out 10 batters in five innings while surrendering only two hits and two earned runs.
It was the final start of Ty Floyd’s collegiate career that wowed everyone who watched. The LSU right-hander struck out 17 Florida Gators in eight innings, surrendering five hits and three earned runs to secure the win for LSU.
Featuring a true four-pitch mix, Ty Floyd profiles as a mid-rotation arm that could go in the mid to late first round of the MLB draft.
Nolan Schanuel, 1B/OF FAU
Coming out of Florida Atlantic University, Nolan Schanuel has a lot of the same tools as Vinnie Pasquantino had coming out of Old Dominion University back in 2019. This season Schanuel slashed .447/.615/.868 with 19 home runs, 70 runs, 64 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases in 59 games. The high OBP and a plus hit tool make him appealing for dynasty purposes and with his 6’4” 220-pound frame it’s very possible he could be a 25-30 home run bat.
The stolen bases were a pleasant surprise this season and with the changes in the game, a 10-15 stolen base season from Schanuel is not out of the question. What will be interesting is to see where he lands. In the right division and home ballpark Schanuel could be something to see and could be a steal in the first round of the FYPD.
Chase Davis, OF Arizona
Coming out of Arizona, Chase Davis could be a first-round pick in this year’s MLB draft. Standing 6’1” and 216 pounds, Davis has solid pop that I believe can make him a 25-30 homer bat annually. In the 2023 season, Davis slashed .362/.489/.742 with 21 home runs, 71 runs, and 74 RBIs in 57 games. At Arizona, Davis has had back-to-back seasons of at least a .414 OBP and 18 home runs. Davis is a very solid outfield prospect twho could fall to the late first round of the MLB draft but could rise up prospect rankings with a hot start to his professional career.
