Two-Start Pitchers for Fantasy Baseball: Week 12 (6/20-6/26)

Here are the two-start pitchers for Week 12 (6/20-6/26) in fantasy baseball. As always, make sure to double-check the probable starting pitchers grid here at Fangraphs before you set your lineup. Pitching rotations are constantly changing. Let’s take a look at the two-start pitchers for Week 12!

Must-Start: These pitchers should be started regardless of match-up. They are a must-start in all leagues until further notice.

Should-Start: These pitchers should start in most leagues. However, these pitchers are not elite and are more subject to variance in performance.

Questionable: Only start these pitchers if you are in a very deep roto league, deep points leagues, desperate for counting stats, or feeling lucky.

Sit: Do not start these pitchers.

Week 12 Two-Start Pitchers

Must Start

Gerrit Cole3.33@ TBHOU
Max Fried2.90SFLA
Nestor Cortes1.94@ TBHOU
Shane McClanahan1.84NYYPIT
Tony Gonsolin1.42@ CIN@ ATL

Through thirteen starts, Dylan Cease has a 2.91 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and 97 strikeouts in 68 innings pitched. Opponents have only a .203 xBA and his 32.9 strikeout percentage is in the 93rd percentile. His 2.82 xERA and 3.30 SIERA back up his stellar start to the season. The only thing holding Cease back is his 11.5% walk percentage which still makes him prone to a blow-up start once in a while. This week he takes on the Toronto Blue Jays (ranked 8th in wRC+ vs righties) and the Baltimore Orioles (20th in wRC+).

Should Start

Lance Lynn6.23TORBAL
Miles Mikolas2.62@ MILCHC
Pablo Lopez2.85COLNYM
Spencer Strider2.45SFLAD

Last week Lance Lynn struggled in his 2022 debut against the Detroit Tigers. Lynn gave up 10 hits and three earned runs over just 4.1 innings. Lynn was also lit up in his last rehab start in the minors where he gave up nine hits and seven earned in just three innings. Usually, Lynn is a must-start but until he has a good outing, I have him ranked as a “should-start.” This is a very important week for Lynn’s owners as he also faces the Blue Jays and Orioles. Hopefully, he can get back on track.

Tyler Mahle4.46LADSF
Tyler Wells3.62WAS@ CHW
Zach Davies3.78SDDET

The 34-year-old veteran, Kyle Gibson, has been on a roll lately. Over his last two starts, he has only given up four earned runs with a 1.00 WHIP and 10 strikeouts in 14 innings. Both were quality starts as well. This week he travels to Texas to take on the Rangers (23rd in wRC+) then he goes to San Diego to tackle the Padres (17th in wRC+). Gibson should be able to rack up some innings while providing solid ratios and close to double-digit strikeouts.

Over his last 21 innings, Tyler Mahle has a 1.71 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 28 strikeouts, and four consecutive quality starts. So obviously he has bounced back from his disastrous start. However, this week he goes against the Los Angeles Dodgers (4th in wRC+) and the San Francisco Giants (10th in wRC+). If Mahle does well, moving forward, his status will shoot up to “should-start.”
