Two-Start Pitchers for Week 11 (June 3rd – June 9th)

If you’re about to set a weekly lineup and are unsure who to sit, who to bench, and who to stream, you have definitely clicked the right link. Below you will find a comprehensive list of all 33 two-start pitchers for Week 11 of the fantasy baseball season. If that’s not enough, I also provided some notes in cases where I thought providing notes would be especially helpful. So go ahead and give it a scroll. And also, as always, please remember to stream responsibly.

Don’t You Dare Bench These Two-Start Pitchers

Corbin Burnes SP Orioles

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th vs. Red Sox – 7IP W 0ER (1R) 3H 3BB 5K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th @ Blue Jays + Sunday, June 9th @ Rays

Tarik Skubal SP Tigers

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th vs. Pirates – 7IP W 0ER 3H 1BB 8K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd @ Rangers + Sunday, June 9th vs. Brewers

Tyler Glasnow SP Dodgers

Last start: Tuesday, May 28th vs. Mets – 7IP 2ER 2H 4BB 8K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th @ Pirates + Sunday, June 9th @ Yankees

Kevin Gausman SP Blue Jays

Last start: Tuesday, May 28th @ White Sox – 6IP W 1ER 4H 1BB 3K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd vs. Orioles + Saturday, June 8th @ A’s

George Kirby SP Mariners

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th vs. Astros – 6IP 1ER 6H 0BB 8K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th @ A’s + Sunday, June 9th @ Royals

Max Fried SP Braves

Last start: Tuesday, May 28th vs. Nationals – 8IP W 0ER 7H 1BB 6K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th @ Red Sox + Sunday, June 9th @ Nationals

Grayson Rodriguez SP Orioles

Last start: Tuesday, May 28th vs. Red Sox – 6IP L 4ER 7H 1BB 10K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd @ Blue Jays + Saturday, June 8th @ Rays

Shota Imanaga SP Cubs

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th @ Brewers – 4.1IP L 7ER 8H 1BB 1K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th vs. White Sox + Sunday, June 9th @ Reds

Notes: Everybody chill. Shota Imanaga gives up some hard contact (38th percentile in both hard-hit rate and average exit velocity) and is a fly-ball pitcher (35.2% rate). So we knew he was likely to have starts like Wednesday when he gave up a pair of two-run homers. And I’ll even go out on a limb and say his 1.86 ERA will climb still higher. But his underlying numbers say he’s really good so his value should remain unchanged. Set it and forget it.

Jared Jones SP Pirates

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th @ Tigers – 4.1IP L 5ER (7R) 5H 2BB 2K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th vs. Dodgers + Sunday, June 9th vs. Twins

Notes: Too early to panic about Jared Jones. Let the rookie have one bad start. It’s a shame he gets the Dodgers next (2nd in wOBA), but you still gotta start him.

Yu Darvish SP Padres

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th vs. Marlins – 3IP L 2ER (3R) 6H 1BB 2K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th @ Angels + Sunday, June 9th vs. DBacks

Notes: Be advised that Yu Darvish might not make his two starts next week. He might not even make one. He was removed after three innings on Wednesday with hamstring tightness. As of this moment, we’re still waiting to hear how imagining results turned out. Make sure you check an update before rosters lock.

Luis Gil SP Yankees

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th @ Angels – 8IP W 1ER 2H 2BB 9K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th vs. Twins + Sunday, June 9th vs. Dodgers

Justin Verlander SP Astros

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th @ Mariners – 7IP 1ER 3H 1BB 9K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd vs. Cardinals + Sunday, June 9th @ Angels

You Should Probably Start These Two-Start Pitchers

Seth Lugo SP Royals

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th @ Twins – 6IP W 1ER 6H 3BB 5K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th @ Guardians + Sunday, June 9th vs. Mariners

Notes: Just a quick glance at Seth Lugo’s expected stats makes it a near certainty that we’re in for some serious regression. His xERA (3.74), for example, is two runs higher than the sparkling 1.74 we’ve seen so far. Added to that, the 34-year-old’s K rate would be among the worst of his career. And Kauffman Stadium grades out as the 4th-most difficult venue for pitchers. Seems like something has to give a little. This is more of a long-term concern, though. In a two-start week, you should still be starting him.

Kutter Crawford SP/RP Red Sox

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th @ Orioles – 6IP L 5ER 4H 2BB 5K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th vs. Braves + Sunday, June 9th @ White Sox

Notes: Not quite time to panic yet about Kutter Crawford’s recent stretch. He’s allowed 16 earned runs over his last 22 innings. The biggest concern is the three home runs allowed over the last three starts. Is this a case of a fly-ball pitcher not getting as lucky now that the weather is heating up? In a two-start week including the White Sox (last in wOBA), it’s still advisable to start him. But that’s something worth monitoring.

McKenzie Gore SP Nationals

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th @ Braves – 5.1IP W 1ER (2R) 6H 0BB 10K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd vs. Mets + Saturday, June 8th vs. Braves

Bailey Ober SP Twins

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th vs. Royals – 5IP L 6ER 9H 0BB 4K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th @ Yankees + Sunday, June 9th @ Pirates

Notes: Some days Bailey Ober – a fly-ball pitcher – struggles with the long ball. It bit him three times on Wednesday and five times over the last three starts. His near-elite walk rate, good K rate, and decent batted-ball results should prevent that from happening too often. You just have to trust the process.

In the Right Situation, These Two-Start Pitchers Make Sense

Nathan Eovaldi SP Rangers

Last start: Tuesday, May 28th vs. DBacks – 3IP 2ER 5H 0BB 2K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd vs. Tigers + Sunday, June 9th vs. Giants

Notes: Though Nathan Eovaldi is usually a must-start pitcher, he just returned from a groin strain on Tuesday. He had no rehab assignment, and so only threw 37 pitches. Looks like the Rangers need to build him up a little before he can start going deeper into games. Thus, the lower-than-usual ranking. If wins and Quality Starts aren’t worth much in your league, sure go ahead and start him.

Triston McKenzie SP Guardians

Last start: Tuesday, May 28th @ Rockies – 5IP 4ER 6H 3BB 9K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th vs. Royals + Sunday, June 9th @ Marlins

Notes: It’s hard to buy Triston McKenzie’s decent numbers thus far (3.77 ERA/8.48 K/9) based on such a steep drop off in chase rate (23.9%), whiff rate (23.1%), and K rate (21.9%). It’s lead to a 4.62 xERA. OK, fine, maybe as a two-start pitcher who gets the Marlins (ranked 29th in wOBA) it might be worth the risk in points leagues. But I’d still be very nervous in categories.

Matt Waldron SP Padres

Last start: Tuesday, May 28th vs. Marlins – 7IP W 0ER 6H 0BB 8K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd @ Angels + Saturday, June 8th vs. DBacks

Notes: Predicting knuckleball pitchers is hard to do. Matt Waldron has it working well right now. He got 11 whiffs with the pitch on Tuesday. And has had four starts in a row yielding two runs or less. Will he continue to fool hitters? Really not sure. In a two-start week, I guess you could do worse in a points league. For categories? Might be best to wait and see.

Trevor Williams SP Nationals

Last start: Thursday, May 30th @ Braves – 5.2IP W 1ER 4H 2BB 4K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th vs. Mets + Sunday, June 9th vs. Braves

Tyler Anderson SP Angels

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th vs. Yankees – 5IP L 1ER 4H 6BB 4K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd vs. Padres + Sunday, June 9th vs. Astros

Notes: Tyler Anderson is another big-time regression candidate. His xERA (4.62) is more than two runs higher than his season-long 2.52 mark. Decreased whiff rates across all of the lefty’s pitches are another red flag. Oh, and both of his opponents next week rank in the top 10 in wOBA. Save this for points leagues.

Andrew Abbott SP Reds

Last start: Tuesday, May 28th vs. Cardinals – 6IP L 6ER 7H 2BB 3K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd @ Rockies + Saturday, June 8th vs. Cubs

Notes: I think many of us expected Andrew Abbott’s ERA to stabilize eventually. Sadly, it happened all in one outing on Tuesday. His new ERA of 3.29 is now more in line with the 3.12 xERA. Given the extreme lack of chase, whiffs, and strikeouts (12th percentile, 11th, and 24th, respectively), and the lack of ground balls, that number could come up still further. In a week where the 24-year-old is pitching in two very unfriendly environments for fly-ball pitchers (Coors Field is the worst overall for pitchers and Great American Ballpark yields the most home runs according to Park Factors), this might be a points-league-only play.

Kyle Gibson SP Cardinals

Last start: Tuesday, May 28th @ Reds – 6IP W 1ER 2H 2BB 6K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd @ Astros + Saturday, June 8th vs. Rockies

You Better Be Desperate To Start These Two-Start Pitchers

Frankie Montas SP/RP Reds 15%

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th vs. Cardinals – 6IP L 3ER 6H 2BB 5K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th @ Rockies + Sunday, June 9th vs. Cubs

Bryse Wilson SP/RP Brewers

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th vs. Cubs – 4IP 3ER (4R) 6H 2BB 1K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd @ Phillies + Sunday, June 9th @ Tigers

Notes: Bryse Wilson gives up loads of hard contact (11th percentile hard-hit rate), has a low whiff rate (22.0%) and K rate (19.6%), and his xERA (4.44) indicates regression is likely coming (3.19 ERA). Sure don’t like that Phillies matchup either. They’re ranked 3rd in wOBA.

Ryan Feltner SP Rockies

Last start: Tuesday, May 28th vs. Guardians – 4.1IP 6ER (7R) 8H 2BB 1K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd vs. Reds + Saturday, June 8th @ Cardinals

Ryne Nelson SP DBack

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th @ Rangers – 6IP L 4ER 5H 3BB 3K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd vs. Giants + Saturday, June 8th @ Padres

Joey Estes SP A’s

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th @ Rays – 5IP 1ER 2H 2BB 5K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th vs. Mariners + Sunday, June 9th vs. Blue Jays

Andre Pallante RP Cardinals

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th @ Reds – 6IP W 0ER 3H 3BB 4K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th @ Astros + Sunday, June 9th vs. Rockies

Ty Blach SP/RP Rockies

Last start: Wednesday, May 29th vs. Guardians – 7IP W 2ER 6H 2BB 5K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th vs. Reds + Sunday, June 9th @ Cardinals

Bowden Francis RP Blue Jays

Last appearance: Tuesday, May 28th (minors) – 3.2IP W 0ER (1R) 1H 1BB 5K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th vs. Orioles + Sunday, June 9th @ A’s

Notes: This is not official. Bowden Francis is coming off the IL soon and would be lined up perfectly to fill Alek Manoah’s (elbow) spot in the rotation. You shouldn’t be too excited about that. Despite the decent Major League numbers (career 3.66 ERA/1.08 WHIP over 51 innings), the innings totals likely won’t be enough to matter. Especially in the near term.

Jake Woodford SP/RP White Sox

Last start: Tuesday, May 28th vs. Blue Jays – 4.1IP L 3ER 5H 2BB 4K

2 starts next week: Tuesday, June 4th @ Cubs + Sunday, June 9th vs. Red Sox

Spencer Howard RP Giants

Last appearance: Tuesday, May 28th vs. Phillies – 4IP 0ER 5H 0BB 4K

2 starts next week: Monday, June 3rd @ DBacks + Sunday, June 9th @ Rangers
