Week 10 Fantasy Football: 3 players you can drop

Identifying which fantasy football players to drop can be a tad tricky at times. We get in our heads and overthink who to drop and if they might start playing well the moment you drop them. I am Brandon Blanco, and I usually do the starts and sits for quarterbacks and running backs. This week, I am helping out fellow writer Bradlee Kilgore and taking over players you can drop this week.

Last week, Kilgore had us dropping Christian Watson, Zack Moss, and DeAndre Hopkins. Two of those three were spot on, but Hopkins showed us all last Monday that he still has premium gas in his tank. Here are the players you can safely drop in Week 10.

Week 10 Players You Can Drop

Alexander Mattison, Las Vegas Raiders

A few weeks ago, I posted a tweet about Alexander Mattison being a top 24 running back in fantasy. That information could not have been more wrong. Mattison, since then, has had games of 9,4, and 3.6 fantasy points. The previous three games before that saw Mattison score in double-figures. Zamir White is also back. Even with White not being a significant threat to Mattison, crucial touches are taken away from an already inefficient Mattison. With the Raiders having a bye in Week 10, fantasy managers can drop Mattison and pick him up next if you truly want him on your roster.

In Week 11, Mattison might be able to have a good game against a bottom-ten run defense in the Miami Dolphins. After that, the matchups become extremely difficult. For now, drop Mattison, and to the other 58.3% of managers who roster him, you can drop him, too.

Keon Coleman, Buffalo Bills

Players that cause headaches every week do not sit well with me. Keon Coleman may have great body control and play with Josh Allen, but he is too inconsistent with his fantasy points. He had 26.9 points in his first four games, then had 11.9 fantasy points because of his single catch that was a 49-yard touchdown. Coleman did have consecutive weeks of double-digit points in Weeks seven and eight, but now the Bills have Amari Cooper. Cooper missed Week 9, and people would have thought Coleman would have had a decent game but had 21 yards on a single catch.

Coleman gives me the vibes of Gabe Davis, where we do not know when to start him, and even in a good match-up, things can go downhill. He is rostered at a 68.3% rate, and I am here to say you can drop Keon Coleman and let someone else deal with the headache he causes fantasy managers.

Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions

This is based on redraft leagues and not dynasty leagues in fantasy football. Sam LaPorta has been one of, if not the biggest, fantasy disappointments this NFL season. LaPorta was being drafted as the TE1 after his historic season. Through nine weeks last season, LaPorta had 43 receptions. Through nine weeks this season, LaPorta has 22 receptions. LaPorta has 300 yards compared to 434 through nine games in 2023. It is safe to say at this point; fantasy managers are holding on to the hope that LaPorta starts living up to that TE1 ADP he had in the off-season. Drop Sam LaPorta, and do not overthink it or beat yourself up over it.
