Week 10 Tight End Rankings for Fantasy Football (Weekend Update!)

Week 9 was the week of the backup tight ends. Six of the twelve touchdowns scored at the position came from lesser-known players, including Nick Vannett, Quintin Morris, Chris Manhertz, and Drew Sample. While there’s no need to squirrel these names away as potential sleepers moving forward, it speaks to the volatility we often see at the position. Hopefully, Week 10 will be smoother sailing. Four teams are on byes this week, and tight ends with plus matchups get pushed up even higher in the ranks. To find out which tight ends have the most favorable matchups, let’s take a look at the Week 10 tight end rankings.

Tight Ends on Byes in Week 10:

David Njoku, Tucker Kraft, Brock Bowers, Noah Fant

Injury Notes for Week 10

  • Dallas Goedert practiced in full this week and is tracking towards playing. He missed the last three weeks with a hamstring injury and is a high-end TE2 with upside against the Cowboys in Week 10.
  • Erik All Jr. is out for the season with a torn ACL. It’s a massive blow for the rookie, as it’s the second time he’s torn the ACL in his right knee. Mike Gesicki will benefit in All’s absence and has a plus matchup in Week 10 against the Ravens.

Tight End Notes

Bye Weeks: CLE, GB, LVR, SEA

  • It’s been hard to trust Dalton Kincaid this season. While his 54 targets on the year rank as fifth-most at the position, he’s cracked 50 yards only twice in nine weeks. However, that could change in Week 10. Kincaid has a favorable matchup against a Colts defense that gives up the most receptions and the sixth-most receiving yards to opposing tight ends. They’ve also surrendered the fifth-most fantasy points to the position. Josh Allen should continue to lean on Kincaid this week, especially with the Bills’ wideouts dealing with injuries. Kincaid could pop off this week and ranks as my TE6 in the Week 10 tight end rankings.
  • Mike Gesicki was the best tight end in fantasy last week, hauling in 5-of-6 targets for 100 yards and a couple of touchdowns. Gesicki’s target share has shot up from 13% on the season to 20% over the last two games, a result of Tee Higgins being sidelined in that two-game stretch. Assuming Higgins is out in Week 10, Gesiciki should continue to benefit in a divisional clash against the Ravens. Baltimore has ceded the third-most receiving yards and fifth-most receptions to the position this season. They’ve also given up the ninth-most fantasy points. This game has shootout vibes, and Gesicki should have a productive day. He ranks as TE9 in the Week 10 tight end rankings.
  • Jonnu Smith has become an integral piece of the Dolphins’ game plan over the past month. He saw at least six targets in his last four games, amassing a team-leading 23% target share in that span. He also has a route participation rate over 66% in each of the last two weeks. Smith should continue to be busy in Week 10. He gets a friendly matchup against a Rams defense that allows the sixth-most fantasy points and 12th-most receiving yards to opposing tight ends this season. Tua Tagovailoa should continue to pepper Smith with targets this week, and he rounds out the top-12 in the Week 10 tight end rankings.
  • Theo Johnson could be a handy bye-week replacement in Week 10. He’s coming off his best game of the season, catching 3-of-6 targets for 51 yards and a touchdown. Johnson’s target totals this season are far from ideal (9% target rate). However, he plays a ton of snaps, as his 83.9% snap rate ranks fourth-best at the position. Johnson has an opportunity to have another productive Sunday. Tight ends have torched the Panthers all year. Carolina has given up the most touchdowns and fourth-most receiving yards to the position. Tight ends also average 13 half-PPR points against Carolina, the second-most this season. There’s risk with Johnson, but he’s a solid sleeper with upside in the Week 10 tight end rankings.
