CFF Waiver Wire/Free Agent Adds

Quarterbacks

Holton Ahlers, ECU

Ownership: 14%

Scottie Montgomery hasn’t done much right in his short tenure at ECU but having fantasy talent at the quarterback position is definitely one of those things. After passing for over 10,000 yards in high school, Holton Ahlers has taken over the starting position at ECU in place of the struggling Reid Herring and has done wonders for the offense. With 20-plus points in the last three weeks and a game against UConn on deck, it’s hard to ignore what this kid brings to the table.

Jamie Newman, Wake Forest

Ownership: 1%

Sam Hartman was a huge loss for many and that isn’t limited to just fantasy teams. The Clawfense lost a key piece in their star freshman and the announcement that Jamie Newman would take over for Hartman came as a surprise after Kendall Hinton’s several appearances throughout the season. But Newman stepped in against NC State and threw three touchdown passes in a huge upset over the Wolfpack. Newman is destined for a huge game against Pittsburgh this week and that will allow most owners to advance onto the Championship game in most leagues.

Others to Consider

Zac Thomas App State, 26%; Jason Shelley Utah, 0%; Manny Wilkins Arizona State, 41%

Running Backs

Aca’Cedric Ware, USC

Ownership: 8%

The USC backfield hasn’t been the most consistent of backfields in college football but it appears that clarity is coming through in the final weeks of the season. Aca’Cedric Ware has taken the majority of snaps for the Trojans this season and put a stamp on his increased role with 300 yards and three touchdowns in the last two contests. The Trojans take on UCLA’s poor run defense this week and in a week full of lower level competition games, it helps to have a guy in the game that wants to tear apart his rival school.

Armand Shyne, Utah

Ownership: 5%

Utah lost 84% of their offense within a week of their matchup and still managed to defeat Oregon. “How did they do this?” you might ask. Armand Shyne is the answer. Utah’s backfield has seen many fantasy greats such as Devontae Booker and Joe Williams under Kyle Whittingham and it seems that Armand Shyne is just another guy that can fill that role. Shyne is owned in less than 5% of leagues and guys that are this good don’t just pop up at the end of the season. Grab him while you can.

Others to Consider

Quardraiz Wadley UTEP, 1%; Isaiah Bowser Northwestern, 13%; Greg McCrae UCF, 2%

Wide Receivers

Gerold Bright, Utah State

Ownership: 18%

Utah State has gone off offensively behind the emergence of Jordan Love and one man that has played a large role in his success is Gerold Bright. Bright is a multi-purpose player and gets double-digit touches almost every game. He has the distinct honor of being running back and wide receiver eligible and should have a huge game this weekend against a trash Colorado State defense.

Tre Walker, San Jose State

Ownership: >1%

So at first glance, Tre Walker may not be the most exciting of prospects but after you look a little deeper you’ll find that he’s been fairly productive over the past several weeks. Walker has at least one touchdown in each of the past three contests and has two 100-plus yard games. His touches have gone up in each of the last four weeks and given that San Jose State is almost always playing from behind, he is always in demand in this offense.

Others to Consider

Ty Lee Middle Tennessee, 35%; Jalen Reagor TCU, 37%; TE Cheyenne O’Grady Arkansas, 26%
