Week 13 NFL DFS: Money Makers and Heart Breakers

Hope everyone in the United States had a wonderful Thanksgiving! As I sat down to write this on Thanksgiving morning, I found myself reflecting on gratitude—not just for the holiday but for the opportunity to do what I love and share my passion for fantasy football with all of you.

Gratitude is a powerful mindset. Being thankful for what we have, approaching life with kindness, and striving to do things well can make all the difference. It’s a simple but meaningful way to find joy and purpose in everything we do. So, thank you to everyone who takes the time to read this every week—it truly means a lot!

But now, let’s get back to what you came here for: Money Makers & Heart Breakers for Week 13. Let’s dive in!

Here is a brief definition of each of my terms for anyone that might be new:

💰 Money Maker – This player will perform better than expectations

💔 Heart Breaker – This player will perform lower than expectations

Week 13 Money Makers💰

Quarterbacks

Jalen Hurts

Hurts has multiple touchdowns in five out of the last seven games. In the past two games, he has only had one touchdown per game. This is a nice bounce-back place for him in Week 13. The Eagles will play the Ravens. The Ravens give up the fifth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Quarterbacks average 297 yards passing against the Ravens, 13 yards rushing, and two touchdowns per week. Hurts so good.

$9,200 on FanDuel

Baker Mayfield

The Buccaneers play the Panthers in Week 13. The Panthers give up the sixth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Mayfield has been on a tear this season. He is the overall QB5 in fantasy. He has Mike Evan back to full health and an easy match-up, this is a game I would play Mayfield everywhere. The Butcher, the Baker, Mayfield is the fantasy points maker.

$6,600 on DraftKings
$8,500 on FanDuel

Russell Wilson

The Steelers play the Bengals in Week 13. The Bengals give up the third most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. You have to throw against the Bengals because they will put up points. I know it is tough to trust Wilson. But this is a game where it is on the high end for scoring with an over/under of 48 points. The Bengals defense really funnels to the pass and the offense puts up points. We want a shootout.

Justin Herbert

Running Backs

Bucky Irving

Bucky has double-digit fantasy scores in five out of the last six games. 15 different running backs have scored in double digits against the Panthers this season. That is because the Panthers are the friendliest defense for running backs to play against. It’s like they invite running backs to get yards and touchdowns. Bucky says don’t mind if I do.

$5,800 on DraftKings
$7,200 on FanDuel

Joe Mixon

In seven out of the nine games he has played this season, Joe Mixon has scored 16 or more fantasy points. How good has Joe been? He has missed three games and is still the overall RB5 in fantasy football. The Jaguars give up 103 yards rushing and 6 receptions for 49 yards weekly to running backs. The Jags defense allows the second most fantasy points to running backs. Mixon is going to go nutso on the Jaguars in Week 13. I hated Mixon in Cincinnati, but I love Joe in Houston.

$8,000 on DraftKings
$9,500 on FanDuel

Chuba Hubbard

Hubbard has been on a nice run the past three games. He has scored at least one touchdown in each of those games. In Week 13 he gets to play against the Buccaneers and their bottom 10 defense against running backs. Hubbard has been producing and dominating the snaps for the Panthers. Look for him to have a huge game this week.

Alvin Kamara

Wide Receivers

AJ Brown

The Eagles play the Ravens in Week 13. The Ravens give up the most fantasy points to wide receivers. In games he has played in this season Brown has a 29% share of the Eagles targets. His friend Jalen Hurts likes to play catch with him. Take his volume and upside in Week 13. This is a week for the Eagles passing game to fly

$8.300 on DraftKings
$8,800 on FanDuel

Marvin Harrison

Harrison appears to be touchdown-dependent. But he has also faced a tough schedule overall this season. He has only faced three teams this season that are bottom fifteen against defending wide receivers. That changes this week. This week the Cardinals play the Vikings. The Vikings give up the second most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. They also give up the most receiving yards to wide receivers. The Vikings give up the deep ball. His dad will be a proud papa in Week 13.

$6,000 on DraftKings
$6,900 on FanDuel

Nico Collins

Guess who’s back? Nico’s back! Collins has played in seven games this season and has six games with double-digit fantasy scores. The Jaguars are up next. In the Jaguars’ last game, both Jameson Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown scored more than 20 fantasy points against them. Nico will catch, Nico will run, and Nico will score touchdowns in Week 13.

$7.900 on DraftKings
$9,100 on FanDuel

NOTE: This may actually be a week you do not have to fear playing Tank Dell as well. Oh look I rhymed.

Other Wide Receiver DFS Picks for Week 13

Ladd McConkey

Brian Thomas Jr.

$5,500 on DraftKings
$6,700 on FanDuel

Puka Nacua

$7,600 on DraftKings
$8,00 on FanDuel

Tight Ends

Cade Otton

Guess who gets to play the Panthers this week? Cade Otton does. Why is that good? Well, the Panthers give up the most fantasy points to tight ends. They stink. This guy named Noah Gray scored two touchdowns against the Panthers in Week 12. Yes, that Noah Gray. In the past five games, Otton has averaged 8.4 targets per game. He may see less usage with Mike Evans back but this matchup is too good to pass on. Or should I say this matchup is too good NOT to pass on? See what I did there?

$4,500 on DraftKings
$6,200 on FanDuel

Taysom Hill

In Week 11 Hill broke the slate, he had the highest tight end point total in over 10 years. I am not chasing those points though with this play. It is unlikely he will score 46.5 points on DraftKings again this week. But the Rams defense is mediocre. His coach has stated they will have him involved because the Saints offense is better when he is. I like him to catch some footballs, make some runs, and hopefully even throw a touchdown. Get some Taysom into your lineups.

$5,000 on DraftKings
$7,000 on FanDuel

Hunter Henry

Henry has 17 targets over the past two games. He leads the Patriots in targets on the season. He is missing one thing this season, he still hasn’t scored a touchdown. I think this is the week he gets in the end zone. The Colts do not defend the middle of the field well. If Henry doesn’t get in the end zone it is very likely Austin Hooper will. This week it’s Henry’s turn.

$4,200 on DraftKings
$5,100 on FanDuel

Other Tight End DFS Picks for Week 13

Pat Freiermuth

$3,500 on DraftKings

Tommy Tremble

$4,600 on FanDuel

Dalton Schultz

$3,300 on DraftKings
$5,200 on FanDuel

DEF

Commanders

The Titans are the Commanders’ opponent in Week 13. The Titans give up the most fantasy points to opposing teams’ defenses. The Commander’s defense isn’t amazing. It has improved though. This is more about the opponent than the defense. In seven games this season team defenses have scored 11 or more points against the Titans.

$3,400 on DraftKings
$4,700 on FanDuel

Cardinals

The Cardinals defense has been doing some serious damage the past three games. They have not allowed more than 10 points scored against them, they have 14 sacks, a fumble recovery and interception, and a safety in that span. The Vikings are the opponent in Week 13. The Vikings give up the eleventh most fantasy points to opposing defenses.

$2,400 on DraftKings
$3,900 on FanDuel

Texans

The Texans have also topped double-digit fantasy scores in each of the past three games. They have racked up sacks (13), interceptions (7) Fumble recoveries (3) and defensive touchdowns (2) over this three-game run. The Jaguars are up in Week 13 and let’s face it, they don’t scare anyone.

$4,700 on DraftKings
$5,000 on FanDuel

NOTE: I really love the Cardinals and Texans this week in great spots to produce.

💔Heart Breakers

Quarterbacks

Joe Burrow

I love Joe Burrow and I am playing him in season-long leagues. But we should temper some expectations here as the Bengals play the Steelers this week. The Steelers allow the least amount of fantasy points for quarterbacks. Only once have they allowed over 300 yards and multiple touchdowns this season and no quarterback has scored more than 18 fantasy points against them.

Lamar Jackson

The Ravens play the Eagles in Week 13. The Eagles give up the 5th fewest fantasy points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. This could be a shootout, but could also easily be a slugfest. I am avoiding Jackson in DFS this week.

Sam Darnold

Did you notice I am playing the Cardinals defense this week in DFS? Darnold is playing them in real life. The matchup stinks and Darnold has started Darnolding again. The truth is the Vikings don’t need Darnold to be a stud to win, so he never is.

Running Backs

James Conner

Look, I am back at it with that Vikings/Cardinals game. The Vikings give up the second-fewest fantasy points to running backs. Conner’s snap count has dropped a bit as he is starting to share some touches out of this backfield. The Cardinals will try to win this one in the air.

DeAndre Swift

The Bears play the Lions in Week 13. The Lions are top three at defending running backs. Swift is yielding touches to Roschon Johnson since the new offensive coordinator has taken over. So we have fewer touches and a bad matchup. No thank you.

Derrick Henry

The Eagle’s defense is really good. So good that it is top four against the run as well as the pass. Henry will probably get something going because he is that good. So play him in season-long leagues all you want. But in DFS, if this turns into just a defensive slugfest he isn’t worth paying up for.

Wide Receivers

DK Metcalf

The Seahawks play the Jets in Week 13. The Jets are one of the best teams at defending wide receivers. It also appears that Jaxon Smith-Njigba is taking over as the top guy in Seattle. I am sitting him everywhere I have him. Metcalf has literally broken my heart this season. I am a jilted fantasy lover.

Terry McLaurin

The Titans are up in Week 13. The Titans give up the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. It is because you can run all over them, and the Commanders will run all over them.

Ja’Marr Chase

Tee Higgins seems to be getting the production since he is back in the lineup. Chase is the top wide receiver in the league, so please don’t think I am saying sit him. Just temper your expectations.  The Steelers are tough on wide receivers. He may not explode.

Tight Ends

Mark Andrews

Here is an easy one for me. The Eagles defend tight ends well and Andrews is not so great this season. Don’t play him anywhere. I love it when it is easy.

Evan Engram

The Jaguars play the Texans in Week 13. The Texans give up the 6th fewest fantasy points to tight ends. The Texan’s defense is good. Even if Trevor Lawrence is playing, I am all out on Engram right now. This one makes me so sad; I had such high hopes in the off-season for Evan Engram.
