The goalie market should once again be pretty strong for you to have your choice at a solid streamer for this week. Whether it be an overlooked starter who continues to pull his weight or a backup who has played his way to split starts, we’re going to have a look below at who the best goalie streamers are for Week 15.
Fantasy Hockey Week 15 Goalie Streams
Ilya Samsonov, Vegas Golden Knights
Ilya Samsonov has played his way from a backup for the Vegas Golden Knights to a goalie that the team turns to almost every second night. Over the past 12 games, he has started six. He has put up excellent numbers this season, especially lately as he’s 6-1-0 with a .935 SV% and a shutout across his past seven games.
Samsonov just took a loss after a six-game win streak because his team could hardly get on the board, not because of his play. He also has a SV% better than .900 in seven consecutive games. Samsonov got two starts last week and was in for the first half of the weekend back-to-back before Adin Hill played against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday. The Golden Knights have three games this week, so somebody is only getting one. Samsonov has been better and the Nashville Predators are up first before the team plays a back-to-back later in the week again against the Carolina Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks. Samsonov is a must-own in deeper leagues at this point.
Elvis Merzlikins, Columbus Blue Jackets
Elvis Merzlikins continues to do his thing in net even though his SV% isn’t great. He has wins in three straight games and five of the past six, but has a .890 SV% over that span and finished just half of those six games with a SV% over .900. He is the starter and he is getting wins. If that is what you need this week, the Columbus Blue Jackets are breaking through this season and getting that as they are in a playoff spot.
The Blue Jackets might be without Sean Monahan at this time, but that hasn’t slowed them down and Merzlikins is still able to step up to steal games from time to time. Columbus has a favorable schedule this week as well. matching up against the Philadelphia Flyers, San Jose Sharks, and New York Rangers. I figure Merzlikins starts in all three games, if not two at the least since the backup started the last game and there’s a few days of rest.
Samuel Ersson, Philadelphia Flyers
Samuel Ersson is back and healthy and is the clear number-one goalie in Philadelphia when that is the case. He is 10-7-2 on the season and more recently, is 3-1-0 with a .957 SV% and a shutout. He has also started four of the last five games, so he should get in goal for three of the team’s four games this week, especially since he’ll have a break with a back-to-back early in the week.
The Flyers are hit and miss but have definitely run through the weaker teams lately. This week the Flyers face the Florida Panthers, Blue Jackets, New York Islanders, and New Jersey Devils. If Ersson gets hot or Philadelphia goes on a little run, then he is a solid option. The same goes if you just need starts as he is good for 2-3.
