I hope that everyone continues to be profitable playing NFL DFS even if the math says that’s impossible. Regardless, last week is in the past and we have a new week of action in front of us. I intend to help you make Week 15 of NFL DFS a week to remember as you finish in the green. With that being said, let us jump right into my top Week 15 DFS picks.
Each week, I will take a look at one option at each position that can be a nice piece in your lineup. Additionally, I will provide one stud and one value option to target along with one expected bust.
NFL Week 15 DFS Picks
Quarterback
Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams, $6,000
It is a great matchup this week for Matthew Stafford this week at home against the Washington Commanders. The visitors are riding a four-game losing streak and now they have to travel to the West Coast. Opposing quarterbacks are scoring the second most points against Washington this season. That puts Stafford in an even better situation on Sunday.
Over the past three weeks, Stafford has 10 touchdown passes compared to just one interception. The veteran is finding his groove, and the timing for Sunday’s matchup is perfect. Between Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, and Kyren Williams supporting a strong running game, Stafford is in line for another big day.
Running Back
Ezekiel Elliot, New England Patriots, $5,800
With Rhamondre Stevenson out for a second straight game, we are going to see a lot of Ezekiel Elliot. There isn’t much going on with respect to New England’s offense, so Elliot will be busy once again.
While it is certainly noteworthy that Elliot carried the ball 22 times last week, gaining 68 yards, that is burying the lead. New England targeted Elliot eight times which led to seven receptions for 72 yards. The Patriots will likely be playing from behind here against the Chiefs. That means the Patriots will be looking to Elliot to control the tempo. And then when they do fall behind, Elliot should be busy in the passing game.
Wide Receiver
Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers, $4,900
With Christian Watson out again this week there are available targets once again. Dontayvion Wicks is dealing with an ankle injury while Jayden Reed is off the Injury Report. It is a great matchup for Reed against Tampa Bay this week and that puts him in a great spot. The Buccaneers are allowing the fifth most points to opposing receivers this season, and Reed is next to exploit that.
Jordan Love is becoming increasingly comfortable with Reed, and that plays a big factor here. Last week, Reed was targeted 10 times which speaks to his role in the offense. From a production standpoint though, Reed wasn’t exactly explosive as he picked up just 27 yards. When you are getting a point per reception, eight catches is pretty good though. When you factor in two rushing touchdowns over the past three weeks, things are going pretty well for Reed.
Tight End
Chig Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans, $2,900
The next touchdown for Chig Okonkwo would be his first of the season, but things are at least moving in the right direction. The Titans offense has been picking up some momentum as of late with Will Levis under center.
Oknonkwo’s inability to get in the end zone thus far is what is keeping his price down, but it also represents a buying opportunity. Houston does struggle against tight ends, so that works in Okonkwo’s favor here. Last week, Okonkwo caught five of six targets for 46 yards. At this point, he has a steady role in the Titans’ offense.
Defense
Chicago Bears, $3.500
While Joe Flacco has given the Browns a little hope, he isn’t exactly a perfect option. Last week, Flacco did throw for 311 yards and three touchdowns, but that also came with an interception for the second straight week. Moving forward, while he will keep Cleveland in the game, he is not a quarterback we are truly worried about.
Chicago has 15 interceptions and five fumble recoveries this year to go along with 21 sacks. That is a solid source of producti0n against an offense that I wouldn’t classify as truly explosive.
DFS Stud
Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers, $9,300
The Arizona Cardinals are not very good. They also happen to struggle against opposing running backs. Part of the problem there is because the Cardinals are often trailing. That leads to opposing teams killing the clock with their ground game. With a similar situation expected on Sunday, and the Cardinals allowing the second most DK points to opposing running backs, Christian McCaffrey is a great target.
All McCaffrey did last week was pick up 145 on the grounds on 16 carries. While he generally is involved on the ground, McCaffrey only caught one pass last week, but I wouldn’t be too concerned. We know how good McCaffrey is, and we can’t ignore his role in San Francisco’s offense.
DFS Value
Robert Woods, Houston Texans, $4,800
The Houston Texans lost Tank Dell to injury, and then it was Nico Collins, but wait, there’s more. Noah Brown is also dealing with a knee injury, and Dalton Schultz just returned after a two-game absence. While the quarterback situation is in flux following C.J. Stroud’s injury, someone in Houston has to catch the ball. And with Noah Brown dealing with a knee injury, Woods is the last man standing.
While battling his own injuries, Woods has yet to really make his impact felt this season. Today though, the expectation is that Woods finally gets going.
DFS Bust
Tyreek Hill, New York Jets, $9,900
How high is too high when it comes to a player’s salary cap hit? But at what point is Tyreek Hill going to slow down?
When it comes to the price, we are certainly getting into the danger zone with Hill. On the performance side, I’m not so sure. With that being said, Hill can very easily make me look silly. This week though, there is a lower probability of that though as he is dealing with an ankle injury. It is a tough matchup against the Jets, but if Hill takes the field, he likely is not at 100%. Based on his salary, this is not an investment to take lightly. And given the nature of his injury, it’s possible Hill reaggravates it at any point or is forced into a reduced role.
