Week 2 Fantasy Hockey Goalie Streams

The 2024-25 NHL season is underway and there are already some interesting storylines involving goalies around the league. In many fantasy hockey league formats, goaltending is very important and can not only make or break a week but a season as well. In the second week of the season, there are a few goalie streams that you should take advantage of.

Fantasy Hockey Week 2 Goalie Streams

Justus Annunen, Colorado Avalanche

It was expected by some that this would be the season that Justus Annunen really challenges Alexandar Georgiev for the starting role in Colorado. The start to the season for Georgiev has indicated exactly that. He has been pulled in both games thus far, allowing eight goals on 25 shots for a 7.75 GAA and .680 SV%.

It isn’t exactly fair to judge Annunen by his relief appearance coming in cold and allowing four goals on 17 shots. While Georgiev struggled last season, finishing with a .897 SV%, Annunen played at a very impressive .928 SV% in 14 games. The 0-2-0 Avalanche have four games this week, and even though the team just picked up Kaapo Kahkonen off of waivers, Annunen should start 1-2 games.

With matchups against the New York Islanders, Boston Bruins, Anaheim Ducks, and San Jose Sharks, there are only three wins between them. If Annunen can get a game against either Anaheim or San Jose, he should be a strong streaming option.

Samuel Ersson, Philadelphia Flyers

Samuel Ersson did as well as he could as a starter last season when shoved into the role. He started 49 games and even though he finished with a .890 SV% and 2.82 GAA, he went 23-19-7 with four shutouts. He is the starter for the Philadelphia Flyers and came away with the win in the team’s first game of the season, stopping 24 of 26 shots.

Ivan Fedotov didn’t do so well in the team’s second game, allowing five goals, so Ersson should keep his hold on the starter’s crease for a while. The Flyers face the Edmonton Oilers, Seattle Kraken, and Vancouver Canucks again this week. The teams have a combined one win in seven games, so even though there are some high-powered offenses, they haven’t gotten going yet. Ersson should get at least two starts.

Petr Mrazek, Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks may be 1-2-0, but they are a better team than last season and Petr Mrazek had a nice bounce-back performance against the Oilers for the team’s first win. With Laurent Brossoit still out, last season’s backup, Arvid Soderblom is backing him up. This will probably see Chicago go with Mrazek for two of the team’s three games this week, but they are all against weaker opponents.

The Blackhawks play the Calgary Flames, Sharks, and Buffalo Sabres. Other than the Flames, who are projected to finish right at the bottom of the standings, the other two teams have struggled out of the gate. Mrazek has a .906 SV% in two games and it could go up this week. He’s worth a stream as a starting goalie.

Don’t miss out on some strong potential starts in net this week as the NHL dives deeper into the action. It’s best to start off on the right foot and not let goaltending be the reason why you fall behind.
