Week 2 Quarterback Rankings for 2024 Fantasy Football

Dual-threat quarterbacks reigned supreme in Week 1, occupying four of the position’s top-five finishes. Outlier Baker Mayfield surprisingly muscled his way into a QB2-finish by throwing for a league-high four touchdowns. Not too shabby. Looking ahead to the Week 2 quarterback rankings, six of the top-eight quarterbacks have rushing upside. But that doesn’t mean these are the only quarterbacks who can impact the rankings. To find out which passers can help your fantasy squads this week, let’s take a look at the Week 2 quarterback rankings and notes.

Injury notes for Week 2

  • In a blow for the Packers, Jordan Love suffered an MCL sprain and will be sidelined for 3-to-4 weeks. Malik Willis will take over for Love and is a downgrade for all Packers receivers.
  • Russell Wilson is dealing with a calf injury that kept him off the field in Week 1. The Steelers already stated they’re preparing for another Justin Fields start in Week 2.

Quarterback Notes

  • Kyler Murray is in a prime position to rebound from an underwhelming Week 1. He faces a Rams defense that allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks last season (20.5). Moreover, the unit was vulnerable against the ground game — an area Murray can exploit. The Rams gave up the sixth-most rushing yards (372) and second-most rushing touchdowns (6) to the position in 2023. Murray rushed for 57 yards in Week 1 and should be able to make plays with his legs again. He’s the QB5 in my Week 2 quarterback rankings.
  • Baker Mayfield teed off on the Commanders in Week 1, completing 24-of-30 passes for 289 yards and a whopping four touchdowns. He also tacked 21 yards on the ground and finished as the week’s QB2. Mayfield should shine again in Week 2. He gets a tasty matchup against a Lions defense that allowed 21.9 fantasy points to quarterbacks last season. They also had trouble containing quarterbacks through the air, allowing the fourth-most passing yards (4,562) and sixth-most passing touchdowns (28) to the position. The Lions just gave up 317 passing yards and a touchdown to Matthew Stafford in Week 1, so Mayfield should have no problems moving the ball. I’m high on Mayfield this week, as he ranks as my QB10 in Week 2.
  • I’m circling back to Matthew Stafford again this week. He gets a cushy matchup against an Arizona defense that coughed up the third-most passing touchdowns (32) and sixth-most fantasy points per game (20.2) to quarterbacks last season. Indeed, Stafford had one of his best games of the 2023 season against the Cardinals, throwing for 229 yards and racking up four touchdowns and 23.4 fantasy points in Week 12. I expect another big game from Stafford as he rounds out the top 12 in my Week 2 quarterback rankings.
  • I’m not loving Trevor Lawrence this week. He gets a tough matchup against a Cleveland defense that allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points and second-fewest passing yards to quarterbacks in 2023. Plus, the Browns are fresh off a Week 1 where they limited Dak Prescott to just 179 passing yards, one touchdown, and 11.5 fantasy points. Lawrence similarly struggled last week (11.3 fantasy points), and I don’t like his chances for a Week 2 rebound. Lawrence ranks as QB19 in my Week 2 quarterback rankings.
