Will Dissly was a Top 3 tight end in Week 1. James Conner was the RB1. Yet, analysts like myself begin to study the upcoming season in June just for things like this to happen in Week 1. Remember, folks: Trust all your research. Week 1’s small sample size should not overly affect your Week 2 rankings.
What I do know, because I have seen it many times (including last season), is that Ben Roethlisberger does no stay down for too long. In fact, he rises to the occasion and proves doubters wrong.
Week 2 Sleepers: Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Wide Receivers | Tight Ends
Last week despite turning the ball over four times, Roethlisberger was the QB13. He is the QB1 in my Week 2 rankings at home against a Chiefs defense that just allowed over 400 yards and three touchdowns to Phillip Rivers.
Antonio Brown is the de facto WR1 and Juju Smith-Schuster is the WR10. I love this entire game for Fantasy and Patrick Mahomes, Kareem Hunt, Tyreek Hill, and Sammy Watkins are all Fantasy relevant in Week 2.
Only two of the first 12 tight ends drafted on average finished as a TE1 in Week 1. Keep playing your guy. Travis Kelce’s one catch will not be repeated. However, there are players like George Kittle and Jonnu Smith that are startable in Week 2 if you are in a bind at the position.
The tight end should be streamed every week in order to optimize the best chance to exploit matchups. As we saw in Week 1, even the best at the position struggle. Jesse James is a great streaming target this week. Obviously, this fits into the “Comeback Ben” narrative, but James did have three catches for 60 yards last week which was good enough to finish as the TE9 overall.
It is time to unleash Saquon Barkley. Even while playing an elite defense, Barkley broke off a 60-yard touchdown run. He is going to feast on Sunday Night Football against the Cowboys. Look for the explosive rookie and Ezekial Elliott to put on a memorable rushing display – enabling them to finish as the Top 2 running backs in Fantasy Football in Week 2.
