Week 2 Survivor Pool Picks

Arizona Cardinals over Minnesota Vikings

I am just going to say it right now, this Cardinals team is going to be a problem this season. The offense is explosive, dynamic, and has an abundance of depth. Kyler Murray could very well win the MVP this season. But perhaps the biggest takeaway from their dominant Week 1 performance, is that with the addition of J.J. Watt, their defensive line looks elite. J.J. Watt draws so much attention from the O-Line, that it draws some of the focus off of Chandler Jones, so Jones can have a five-sack game against a respectable Titans O-line.

The Titans are a better team than the Minnesota Vikings this season; that I am nearly certain of. I expect Kyler Murray and the Cardinals to have a field day with this Minnesota defense that has been on the decline over the past few seasons. I am taking the Cardinals here and I am feeling very confident about it.

New England Patriots over New York Jets:

New England may have taken the loss in Week 1, but Miami is much better than this Jets team. Mac Jones looked really sharp all things considered. Damien Harris looked good on the ground, and the Pats defense looked solid as well. This Patriots team is one that if they stay healthy, will continue to improve each and every week. They will win this Week 2 matchup against the New York Jets, and get Mac Jones that first career NFL victory. Not only that, but I will double down and assert that the Patriots win by double digits.

New Orleans Saints over Carolina Panthers:

New Orleans absolutely demolished a Packers team that was predicted by most to win the division. Meanwhile, the Panthers barely beat a Jets team that is a few years away from contention, if at all.

First of all, I want to highlight how good the defense was in Week 1. They only allowed 229 total yards to the reigning MVP, Davante Adams, and Aaron Jones. I highly doubt that Sam Darnold and company is going to come out and shred this defense. I also understand Jameis Winston had an anomaly of a week with only 145 yards with 5 touchdowns, but if he can simply manage to not turn the ball over, there is a good reason to believe that the Saints will coast to a win in this one. The Saints are looking like a rock-solid pick in this one over the Panthers.

TEAM TO AVOID:

San Francisco 49ers over Philadelphia Eagles:

I am not saying that San Francisco can’t win this game, as they likely will. What I am saying is that for as heavy of a favorite as they are, they are not a surefire pick this week. This Eagles team just beat the Falcons 32-6 in Atlanta, and yes I know the Falcons aren’t great, but holding that offense to only six points is pretty remarkable.

On the flip side, the 49ers defense just allowed 33 points to a Lions team that is supposed to be a bottom-of-the-barrel squad in the 2021-2022 season. Jalen Hurts presents a whole different problem than Jared Goff, as he can run all over a defense. Plus, Devonta Smith and Jalen Reagor have both looked great in their small sample size this season. In conclusion, this game is going to be closer than people think and could go in either direction.

Listed Below is Each Team’s ranking on the bettings odds of them winning their Week 2 game from Top to Bottom.
