2024 Fantasy Football: Week 2 Wide Receiver Sleepers and Streamers

Week 1 was a doozy for the wide receiver position. We are back to help you find the top Week 2 wide receiver sleepers and streamers. When we have injuries to Puka Nacua and disappointing weeks from players like Drake London, Terry Mclaurin, and Christian Kirk, you need to start looking for alternatives. These are players you aren’t starting over your studs and we don’t want to overreact to one game but some of us are in deeper leagues or had some injuries or preseason sleepers that didn’t pan out. Every week we give you three wide receiver streamers and three wide receiver sleepers to consider for your fantasy football team.

Week 2 WR Streamers

Greg Dortch

When looking for a Week 2 wide receiver streamer, I’m looking for someone who was first or second on their team in targets. That accurately describes Greg Dortch. He beat out rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. and hyped pre-season sleeper Michael Wilson for targets. Dortch only trailed tight end Trey McBride in targets. Dortch saw eight targets against a tough Buffalo Bills defense. Week 2 will be against the Los Angeles Rams who just saw Cooper Kupp get 21 targets. Read that again. Not a typo. 21 targets. While Greg Dortch isn’t as talented as Kupp he does play a similar role. They both come out of the slot and excel on quick passes like slants. Dortch should continue to see not only a high volume of targets but also quality targets. The Cardinals only had two red zone targets in Week 1 and one of them was to Greg Dortch. He’s the perfect Week 2 wide receiver streamer for your fantasy football team.

Kj Osborn

DeMario Douglas, nope. Javon Baker, nope. Ja’Lynn Polk, nope. Tyquan Thornton, nope.  None of those guys led the New England Patriots in targets. Not even tight end Hunter Henry or Austin Hooper led the team. It was former Minnesota Viking K.J. Osborn who led the team. He finished the game with six targets. The only knock to Osborn heading into Week 2 is the overall offense of the Patriots. With Jacoby Brissett under center, the team only managed to have 121 passing yards. While they aren’t quality targets, volume is still king in fantasy football. There is the other issue of the matchup for Week 2. Going against the Seattle Seahawks will provide a tougher matchup than Week 1. Normally i would avoid it given the low quality of targets but as a wide receiver streamer, you can still roll with Osborn. Why? The Patriots had four red zone targets, two of which went to a wide receiver. Both of those were to K.J. Osborn. The potential for a touchdown is high.

Wan’Dale Robinson

We all knew, or should have known that rookie Malik Nabors was going to be solid. We knew that quarterback Daniel Jones was going to be not great. What we didn’t expect was Wan’Dale Robinson to be fantasy-relevant and end up as a Week 2 wide receiver streamer. When you see 12 targets no matter how bad your quarterback is that’s exciting for fantasy football. If you are looking for a Week 2 wide receiver streamer Robinson is your guy. Not only is the volume there but the matchup is great. It’s a divisional game against the Washington Commanders. A Commanders team that just got torched by Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and the Buccaneers. I don’t expect a shootout in this game but a neutral game script means the passing game will be active all game. When the Giants do get a chance to score they were looking at Robinson. He saw three red zone targets in Week 1. Bad offenses can still produce quality fantasy football assets. Wan’Dale Robinson is a perfect example of that.

Week 2 Wide Receiver Sleepers

Tyler Johnson

We are all heartbroken that Puka Nacua is hurt and is considered week to week.. While it sucks not having him out on the field it did and does open up opportunities for someone else. That someone else is Tyler Johnson. With Cooper Kupp drawing top coverage against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2, Johnson should see plenty of opportunity. Johnson did see seven targets in Week 1 which was tied for second on the team. In Week 1 the Buffalo Bills had ten different players have targets on only 23 passing attempts. The Rams are coming off a 49-passing attempt game so plenty of volume to go around. If you lost Puka or are worried about one of the other wide receivers that let you down in Week 1, Tyler Johnson is the perfect Week 2 wide receiver sleeper.

Adonia Mitchell

Listen I could load this up with a ton of stats like ADoT, unrealized air yards, target percentage, and a whole host of others. What you really need to know about Adonai Mitchell is that he was overthrown on two deep passes. If he catches just one of those he goes from finishing WR102 to being in the top 50 if not higher. It’s very encouraging that the Colts are taking shots down the field. While I love Ashton Dulin and Alec Pierce they both had long touchdown passes. Those could easily be Mitchell’s in Week 2. He will see the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2. The Eagles just let four different Packer receivers average over 10 yards per reception. They were giving up big plays. That is what we want from Adonia Mitchell and what we have seen from him in Week 1.

Ray-Ray McCloud

If you had to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers play the Atlanta Falcons this past week, I’m sorry. A game that saw the Steelers win without scoring a touchdown. If you drafted Drake London I’m sorry. He finished the game with only three targets, catching two of them for 15 yards. If you did watch the game what you saw was a surprise top receiver for the Atlanta Falcons. Ray-Ray McCloud showed out with a seven-target game. He caught four of them for 52 yards. While everyone was excited for London, Kyle Pitts, and even Darnell Mooney it was McCloud that got the work. Week 2 is against the Philadelphia Eagles who just let three Green Bay Packers receivers see five or more targets. No Week 2 wide receiver sleeper list would be complete without Ray-Ray McCloud on it.
