Week 4 Tight End Sleepers: Go with Ryan Griffin

We are starting to get a grasp of the tight end position. Will Dissly is who we thought he was. The Steelers are going to use Vance Mcdonald more than Jesse James, and Jared Cook is average at best. Unfortunately, Rob Gronkowski has underperformed for two straight weeks, Evan Engram will miss time with an MCL sprain, and Jordan Reed will be on a BYE Week. You always play Gronk, even if there is a fire, but, if you own the other two and need a streamer- we got you covered. Now let’s look at a couple lesser-known names who happen to be my favorite Week 4 tight end sleepers.

Week 4 Tight End Sleepers

Ryan Griffin, Houston Texans

The Texans have not used Griffin much so far this season despite the tight end being on the field for 80 percent of Texans snaps. He has only caught three passes for 63 yards, which is not ideal for Fantasy.

Fantrax Football CommissionerThis week the Texans play the Colts who have given up 19.5 Fantasy points per game, which is second most in the NFL. Griffin has been Fantasy relevant before and the volume should increase for him as long as he is able to stay on the field.

In Week 3 Griffin caught two passes for 44 yards which was encouraging to see. He can be a very sneaky DFS play in Week 4 and is a viable streaming option.

Rhett Ellison, New York Giants

Last week, Rhett Ellison caught three passes for 39 yards and added a touchdown against the Texans. In Evan Engram’s absence (knee) Ellison stepped in and played in 87 percent of the Giants offensive snaps.

Ellison has been in the NFL since 2012 and played in a backup role for the Vikings until 2017. Last season with the Giants, he caught a career-high 24 passes.

The opportunity will be there while Engram remains out with an MCL sprain. The matchup against the Saints in Week 4 should be a good one as the Saints who are at the bottom of the league in total yards allowed.
