Week 5 DFS Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel

Here we are again, making some DFS picks, the only difference is we are in Week 5 now. Week 4 had its ups and downs. Cooper Kupp had the second-highest salary last week and only had five catches for 64 yards. Goes to show the highest salaries are necessarily not the best picks.

This is why below I have my top value picks for Week 5. And all the players I have picked are actually in my DFS lineups for this week. So trust me, these lineups will match your DraftKings and FanDuel salaries perfectly.

Just as a reminder, DraftKings has a salary base of $50,000, and FanDuel has a base of $60,000. Now, let’s get into it.

Yeah, we know football is in full swing. That doesn’t mean you can’t jump into fantasy hoops? From joining a public league with our Fantasy Basketball Commissioner to trying one of our Classic Draft Contests, there are plenty of ways to play Fantasy Basketball on Fantrax!

Week 5 DFS Picks:

Week 5 Rankings for Season-Long Leagues: QB | RB | WR | TE | Kickers | D/ST | PPR | Flex

Quarterbacks

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys (DK $6,900 FD $8,100)

Last week Dak Prescott went off with four touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers. This week the Cowboys play the Giants. The Giants are the ninth-worst fantasy defense against quarterbacks. With Prescott’s DraftKings salary he is an easy start against this Giants weak defense. This will be the first time this season the Giants will play a top fantasy quarterback in the league. So if their defense is already ninth-worst going against Teddy Bridgewater, Taylor Heinicke, Matt Ryan, and Jameis Winston the Prescott will have a field day.

Sam Darnold, Carolina Panthers (DK $6,600 FD $7,600)

I don’t know if Sam Darnold is valued so low because he is playing the Eagles? But, over the past two games, the Eagles have given up 40 or more points. Darnold is having his breakout season so far with five rushing touchdowns and five passing touchdowns. The lowest he has scored in fantasy has been 19 fantasy points. Now that Christian McCaffrey is out, expect Darnold to steal all the red zone rushing touchdowns. He is a solid DFS pick this week that will get you over 20 fantasy points.

Other Value Pick: Daniel Jones, New York Giants (DK $6,000 FD $7,400)

Running Backs

Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts (DK $6,300 FD $6,900)

Jonathan Taylor finally had a top fantasy performance last week. Going forward Taylor has a lot of favorable matchups against the run game starting with the Ravens this week. The Ravens are giving up just under 20 fantasy points a game to running backs this season. Taylor may seem like not a sure DFS pick with Marlon Mack getting 10 carries last week. But Mack only had 22 yards to Taylor’s 103 on 16 carries. Taylor will be the lead back this week and going forward.

Darrell Henderson Jr., Los Angeles Rams (DK $5,900 FD $6,400)

Darrell Henderson Jr. is back to being healthy and has an amazing matchup against the Seahawks. The Seahawks are the third-worst team against the run this season in terms of fantasy. Not only was Henderson solid in the run game last week but also was heavily involved in the passing game. Henderson has a salary for an RB2 this week but can easily be an RB1 this week. Thus saving you some money to spend big on the wide receiver or tight end spot.

Other Value Pick: Zack Moss, Buffalo Bills (DK $5,500 FD $6,300)

Wide Receivers

Corey Davis, New York Jets (DK $5,600 FD $6,200)

Anytime a wide receiver is playing the Falcons, you’re going to want to start them. Having said that, Davis is turning out to look like Zach Wilson’s favorite target. And his DFS salary this week is way too hard to pass up on. Davis has at least five targets or more this season including two games of seven targets and one game with 10. He is the clear PPR monster for the Jets and has a great matchup to show it off this week. Davis could even be plugged in at the flex with this salary.

Laviska Shenault Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars (DK $4,800 FD $5,800)

I have been high on Laviska Shenault Jr. all season and he finally showed up last week. He does have yet to score a touchdown this season, but that will come this week. D.J. Chark is out with an ankle fracture. That opens up more red-zone targets for Shenault. His teammate Marvin Jones Jr. will move into the wide receiver one position. Leaving the top cornerbacks on Jones. But, this week the Jaguars are going against the worst pass defense in the league in the Titans. Shenault is so undervalued this week for DFS leaving him as a flex option as well. Make sure not to sleep on Shenault against the Titans.

Davante Adams, Green Bay Packers (DK $8,200 FD $8,200)

Davante Adams makes my list of DFS picks this week because he is properly valued this week. The other top receivers in Tyreek Hill, Cooper Kupp, and Stefon Diggs are overpriced for their matchups. This week Green Bay is at Cincinnati. Adams will do the usual Adams types of things he does against this weak secondary. Adams has yet to have a two-touchdown game this week, and that happens this week. The Bengals gave up two touchdowns to Adam Thielen in Week 1. I expect Adams to finish as the number one or two receiver this week in DFS.

Other Value Pick: Odell Beckham Jr., Cleveland Browns (DK $6,000 FD $6,400)

Tight Ends

Dalton Schultz, Dallas Cowboys (DK $4,400 FD $6,200)

Dalton Schultz is becoming one of the top tight ends in the league this season. Most of the top tight ends have been inconsistent this season such as Geroge Kittle. Schultz has three touchdowns in his last two games and the trend should continue this week. The Cowboys have the Giants this week and Schultz should have his way with that linebacking core. He has way too low of a salary this week to pass by. Especially with Kittle and Darren Waller not putting up huge numbers this season. It is better to go with a sure thing.

Other Value Pick: Mike Gesicki, Miami Dolphins (DK $4,200 FD $5,600)

Defense

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (DK $4,700 FD $4,800)

Tampa Bay is banged up in the secondary, but the Dolphins just don’t have that firepower that scares me to not start Tampa Bay. The Dolphins have already been blown out this season. And they don’t know what to do with the run game. Jacoby Brissett looks decent, but he will be up to the test this week against the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay has a lower price this week simply due to injuries, but don’t count them out this week.

Other Value Pick: Denver Broncos (DK $4,200 FD $4,400)
