Week 5 is here, and that means another round of survivor pool picks. I am currently four for four with my picks this year. Just as a recap I’ve used the Ravens, Rams, Falcons and Eagles. The first four weeks are easier as you have every team to pick from. But, now the picks are starting to get difficult.
Last week I took the Eagles, and for a second I thought I was going to get my first strike. But, the Eagles came back in the second half against the Jaguars.
Also, I went two for three on my suggestions for Week 4. I got the Eagles and Raiders right but missed on the Texans’ upset. But, most importantly I got my pick for the week right.
Now, it’s time for me to go three for three on my survivor picks for Week 5.
Week 5 Survivor Pool Picks
Let’s get into it. All lines are taken from ESPN
Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings (-7)
Pick: Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings are rolling and their defense isn’t that bad. They just beat the Saints in London last week by a field goal. Yes, the Saints had Andy Dalton starting, but I think Dalton still might be better than Justin Fields. The Bears are second to last in yards per game at 274.8. So, I don’t see them scoring a lot of points this week.
The Bears have nothing going for them in the passing game. I think this is an easy pick for the week and I would rather get the Vikings knocked out of my checklist early. It is only a matter of time till Kirk Cousins goes into his slump and loss streak.
Detroit Lions @ New England Patriots (-3)
Pick: Detroit Lions
The Lions are averaging the most offensive yards this year, but on the other side are giving up the most yards per game as well. However, the Patriots could be without Mac Jones this week. The Patriots’ defense is middle of the road this season when it comes to giving up yards but they are giving up an average of 24.5 points per game.
This defense isn’t as elite as it used to be and the offense is terrible besides the run game. The Lions should win this upset. But, if you don’t feel comfortable taking this gamble, the Lions will play the Bears later on.
Tennessee Titans (-2.5) @ Washington Commanders
Pick: Tennessee Titans
The Titans are starting to roll after starting the season 0-2. But, this happens every season. They start off slow then win the division quietly. Both defenses are nowhere close to elite, so it comes down to the playmakers. While I think the Commanders have more playmakers, I don’t trust Carson Wentz.
I think Derrick Henry has his breakout game this week and the Titans keep the ball safe.
My Pick: Minnesota Vikings
Like I said before the Vikings are starting to get on a roll. Adam Thielen is starting to come alive and Justin Jefferson is a top-three wide receiver. The Bears won’t be able to put up points this week and even if they do, they won’t be able to hold Jefferson back.
Also, it is only a matter of time till Dalvin Cook has an elite game. That could be this week.
