There are some solid goalie streams this week in fantasy hockey. The schedule is packed and certain goalies are proving that they are worth the addition even if it is for just one start a week. One goalie can change the outcome of a week for you and continue to give you an edge over your opponents. Here are the top three streamer options for Week 6 in fantasy hockey.
Fantasy Hockey Week 6 Goalie Streams
Jonathan Quick, New York Rangers
Igor Shesterkin has played great this season, but he does have two blunders. He also deserves some rest from time to time, especially when backup Jonathan Quick can hold it together in net when he’s not in. That is exactly what happened in the Rangers’ last game. Quick got the start after Shesterkin had let five goals in on 12 shots in the previous game. Quick came away with the shutout and earned himself another start this week.
Even though the Rangers have trust in Quick, the team should give him an easy matchup this week against the San Jose Sharks to give Shesterkin a little rest in the middle of the week. New York starts the week against the 14-1-0 Winnipeg Jets and Shesterkin will most definitely play in that game. The Rangers follow that up with games against the Sharks and struggling Seattle Kraken. Quick is 3-0-0 with a 1.17 GAA, .964 SV%, and one shutout. Those numbers are lights out and he has picked up right where he left off from last season. When he starts, it’s almost guaranteed a win for you in fantasy.
Joel Blomqvist, Pittsburgh Penguins
Joel Blomqvist just put up another solid game for the Pittsburgh Penguins and the team came out with a win for him. That brings the 22-year-old rookie’s total up to three wins in six starts with a 3.25 GAA and .913 SV%. He has also had four quality starts and only two games just under a .900 SV% (.895 and .897). He has been a solid addition that has helped much more than hurt this season if you have been streaming goalies.
Blomqvist took advantage of his latest opportunity after Alex Nedeljkovic struggled in back-to-back games. The Penguins have four games on tap this week, starting with the Dallas Stars and then playing the Detroit Red Wings before games on consecutive days to close out the week against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Sharks. Blomqvist has earned two of those starts and they will likely come against the Red Wings and Sharks. Anyone who picks up the rookie goalie will be hoping for a matchup against the Sharks.
Joel Hofer, St. Louis Blues
It appears as though the St. Louis Blues will be splitting their four starts this week between both of their goalies. Joel Hofer is the backup and has played solid for the most part again. Jordan Binnington has gotten the majority of games, but he just allowed eight to the Washington Capitals and was kept in the net the entire game. The team wouldn’t do that unless they had a plan in mind to keep Hofer fresh for the next outing.
Hofer has three wins in five games and a shutout to go with that. His GAA is 3.33 and his SV% is .903, so that tells the Blues have been giving up a lot of chances and he has played better than expected. Since he is likely to start the next game, that means Hofer gets the net against the Boston Bruins first. They haven’t exactly been great this season. The Blues then play the Buffalo Sabres, Bruins again, and Carolina Hurricanes. If he plays well against the Bruins the first game, expect the young netminder to get the start in the second game against them later in the week. If not, he should draw the second half of the back-to-back against a tougher Hurricanes who shoot a lot.
