The hope is that everyone continues to be profitable playing NFL DFS. Regardless, that is now in the past and we have a new week of action in front of us. My intention is to help you make Week 6 of NFL DFS a week to remember as you finish in the green. With that being said, let us jump right into my top Week 6 DFS picks.
Each week, I will take a look at one option at each position that can be a nice piece in your lineup. Additionally, I will provide one stud and one value option to target along with one expected bust.
NFL Week 6 DFS Picks
Quarterback
Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals, $6,300
The great thing about DFS is right there in the name; daily. To say that the 2023 season did not get off to a good start for Joe Burrow would be an understatement. But if you choose to have a short memory and live in the present, things are very different. And that is why Burrow is one of my Week 6 DFS picks.
Last week, Burrow looked to finally be healthy for the first time this season. Granted it was Arizona, but he took full advantage of the situation. All Burrow did, aside from winning those who rostered Ja’Marr Chase a lot of money, was 317 yards and three touchdowns.
While last week it came as a sigh of relief, this is not a performance that would have shocked anyone at the start of the season. Compared to the $7,100 attached to Burrow in Week 1, we are still get a healthy discount. The fact that Burrow is facing a Seattle team allowing to ninth most Draft Kings points to opposing quarterbacks is even better.
Running Back
Raheem Mostert, Miami Dolphins, $6,400
For the second straight week, we are featuring a Miami running back here. While we want to be as original as possible, sometimes you just have to follow the data. With De’Von Achane sidelined, the Dolphins backfield belongs to Raheem Mostert and he should be on your radar.
Working alongside Achane the last few weeks hasn’t slowed Mostert down and now he is back to being a solo artist. Mostert has only gone one week without a touchdown and has eight on the season with seven coming on the ground. With 5.4 yards per carry, Mostert has shown the ability to generate positive yardage. The increased workload will be a nice plus for Mostert. We cannot ignore that Carolina has allowed the second most DraftKings points to opposing running backs either.
The Dolphins are heavy favorites against Carolina, so the game flow certainly works in our favor here. The fact that the Panthers are allowing the second most DraftKings points to opposing running backs also comes into play here.
Wide Receiver
Drake London, Atlanta Falcons, $4,800
At this point, it’s not a secret what D.J. Moore and Justin Fields did last week against Washington. After they scuffled all season, Moore and Fields connected for 230 yards and three touchdowns on eight receptions.
By no means is that the prediction for Drake London in Week 6, but it does paint a clear path toward success. Given what we saw out of Moore, it is also not a surprise that the Commanders are allowing the most points to opposing wide receivers this year.
In what has been a disappointing season for London, Washington represents a soft landing spot. The good news is that London is also coming off his best performance of the season last week. In Week 5, London caught six of his nine targets for 78 yards.
Tight End
Logan Thomas, Washington Commanders, $3,500
It was a wild Thursday night game last week, and a healthy Logan Thomas played a large part in that. It was the first time Thomas was really healthy all season, and it showed.
Sam Howell looked to his tight end early and often as he targeted Thomas 11 times. He turned it into nine receptions for 77 yards and I’m expecting him to build on it as one of my Week 6 DFS picks. Facing the Falcons should facilitate that as they are allowing the second most DK points to opposing tight ends this season.
Defense
Miami Dolphins, $3,500
Bryce Young certainly looks like a rookie quarterback, and the Miami Dolphins get to take advantage of that this week. We know that the Dolphins are going to get out to an early lead thanks to their prolific offense. Led by Raheem Mostert, their running ability can also control the clock, things won’t be easy for Young.
Attempting to play from behind hasn’t worked for Young to this point. Miami is in a great spot to build on their two interceptions so far this year. Generating pressure is their strong suit after finishing with seven sacks last week to bring their total for the year up to 17.
DFS Stud
T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings, $6,600
Generally, I’m not looking to spend up at the tight end position, but exceptions can always be made. And that being said, T.J. Hockenson is one of my Week 6 DFS picks.
With Justin Jefferson sidelined, someone needs to step up in the Minnesota offense. Given the skill position players at Kirk Cousins’ disposal, it is very likely that Hockenson truly steps up and takes on a larger role. Last week, Hockenson caught five of eight targets for 51 yards. We have already seen over the past year or so that Hockenson can truly take over games for Minnesota and be heavily targeted.
In facing Chicago this week, Hockenson has a favorable matchup. The Bears have allowed the third most catches to opposing tight ends this season. And that should lead to a busy and productive day for Hockenson.
DFS Value
D’Onta Freeman, Chicago Bears, $4,400
While D’Onta Foreman only has five carries for 16 yards on the season, he might be the last man standing in Chicago’s backfield. With Khalil Herbert out and Roschon Johnson likely out this week, Foreman is in line to start this week.
In 2022, Foreman averaged 4.5 yards per carry which was good for 914 yards in the first extended action of his career. That workload should continue this week.
DFS Bust
Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams, $8,000
It is very difficult to overlook what Puka Nacua has done this season. To say that he has emerged from nowhere to be a stud this season would be an understatement.
Last week, Nacua continued his success by catching seven passes for 71 yards. Nacua also scored a touchdown for the second consecutive week despite the return of Cooper Kupp. The issue, aside from Kupp’s return, is that Nacua’s price on DK has continued to rise to the point where it is cost prohibitive. I find it difficult to pay up this high for a number two receiver.
