Michael Florio’s Week 7 Fantasy Football Positional Rankings

I am starting to think I may be a curse. Last week, I talked up Mohamed Sanu everywhere I could, and while he did catch a touchdown, he left early with a hip injury. The week before that I wrote about Matt Brieda and how I was higher on him that week and he also scored a touchdown before leaving early. The week prior I was high on Chris Carson and he was a late scratch. Lets hope this is the week my positional rankings buck this terrible trend!

  • There were a lot of injuries in Week 6, perhaps none bigger than a guy who didn’t even play: Devonta Freeman. He was placed on IR and now Tevin Coleman and Ito Smith will take his place. Coleman is an RB2 going forward, with Smith in the flex convo. It is worth mentioning that while Coleman played more snaps in Week 6, Smith had more touches and has scored in three straight games.
  • Marlon Mack only played 35 percent of the snaps in Week 6, but he had the most touches of all Colts RBs. I expect his workload to continue to increase as he gets further away from his injury. He is a solid flex option this week in a game the Colts should be leading and using Mack to grind out the clock. Robert Turbin is a deep sleeper, as he has surpassed Jordan Wilkins there.
  • Here is your weekly Kenyan Drake update: He had 13 carries for 57 yards and a fumble that almost cost the Dolphins the game. Frank Gore had 15 attempts for 101 yards and didn’t almost fumble the game away. On the plus side, Drake did have 6 targets and 4 catches, and has an excellent matchup against the Lions. If you cannot trust Drake this week, you never can.
  • The Giants are such an interesting team this week. On one hand, they have a terrific matchup against the Falcons, who play so well at home that you know the Giants are going to be chasing points. That should bode well for them, as the Falcons defenses gets shredded on a weekly basis. Obviously you trust Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley this week, but I also really like Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram. I feel like if I like all his weapons I should like Eli Manning, but with the QB position as deep as it is, I would still advise going in a safer direction. Eli may ball out this week, but I think there is a larger chance he disappoints.
  • The Texans offense has been disappointing as of late and this week they face the tough Jaguars defense. You are of course starting DeAndre Hopkins, who will look to make Jalen Ramsey speechless again, but you can get away from Deshaun Watson this week. He comes outside my Top 15 QBs in a very tough matchup. You could also get away from either of their RBs and even Will Fuller, but I do like Keke Coutee more than most this week. Coutee has averaged nine targets per game since Week 4, while Fuller has seen less than four in that span. Additionally, the Jags weakness is against the slot, as they’ve allowed the fourth most Fantasy Points Per Game (FPPG) to slot WRs this season. Go Coutee over Fuller this week.
  • Quincy Enunwa suffered an ankle injury and Jermaine Kearse stepping in without missing a beat. He had 10 targets and ran 19 routes from the slot, the most of any Jets WR. The Vikings’ weakness is also against the slot, and I expect Kearse to be the Jets’ top target this week. He comes in as a WR3 for me.
  • Lastly, you should start Browns this week. The Bucs defense is atrocious and it is reflected in my positional rankings.
