There are no teams on bye in Week 8, can I get a Hell Yeah! We have an actual full slate of teams for the NFL Main Slate on Sunday. You have no idea how happy this makes.
Let’s go and take a deeper dive into who to play this week and in some cases who to avoid in Money Makers and Heart Breakers of the Week 8 NFL DFS Main Slate. And don’t forget, you can also use these insights as sit/start advice for your weekly lineups.
Week 8 NFL DFS Main Slate Picks
Here is a brief definition of each of my terms for anyone that might be new:
💰 Money Maker – This player will perform better than expectations
💔 Heart Breaker – This player will perform lower than expectations
💰 Money Makers
Quarterback
Jalen Hurts – The Eagles quarterback has been fantastic this season. In Week 8 Hurts gets to play against the in-division rival Washington Commanders. The Commanders are really bad against the pass. They allow quarterbacks to throw for 264 yards and 2 touchdowns on average weekly. They give up the second most fantasy points to opposing teams quarterbacks. Hurts has passed for 9 touchdowns this season and ran for another 6. This is easily a 250-plus yard and 2-touchdown day.

Jordan Love – The Packers will be playing the Vikings in Week 8. The Vikings are a team that can move the ball on offense and will pass a lot. The defense of the Vikings gives up the 10th most fantasy points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. Love has not been amazing the last few weeks. This looks like a 280-yard 2-touchdown game for Love. I may never recommend Love again if he can’t get us 18 points or more this week. Tyrod Taylor threw for 279 yards and 2 touchdowns against this Commanders defense in Week 7. I might love Jordan Love this week, but I “like like” him.

Mac Jones – The Dolphins give up the sixth most fantasy points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. In Week 7 Mac played against a Bills team that was very tough to pass on. Jones passed for 272 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Dolphins have a very potent offense. This game also has an over-under of 47 points. It appears to me and to the people in Las Vegas that the Patriots will have to throw the ball. Maybe even throw it a lot to stay in this game.

Running Backs
Isaiah Pacheco – In Week 6 Pacheco played this same Broncos team. In that game, Pacheco ran for 62 yards. He also had 6 receptions for 36 yards. He had 22 total touches in that game. I would expect much of the same in Week 8. The Broncos give up the most fantasy points to running backs. Pacheco’s Week 6 is his floor. I Would feel really good putting him in my lineup this week.

Alvin Kamara – Kamara has been an absolute beast since returning from suspension. This guy is dominating the running back touches both with carries and receptions. Alvins has a 24% target share on the team. With double-digit fantasy scores in each of his 4 games played, Kamara gets to make it 5 in a row against the Colts in Week 8. Running back average 93 yards and a touchdown rushing and another 4 receptions and 33 yards receiving against the Colts. Looks like a big game is coming this week from Kamara.

Devin Singletary – Singletary snaps went up dramatically in Week 6. He played 54% of the snaps which was the most of any Texans running back. In that game he looked like the best Texans running back, averaging 4.8 yards per carry and having an even split in touches with Dameon Pierce. The Panthers are up in Week 8. The Panthers have had 9 running backs score double-digit fantasy points against them in the 6 games they have played this season. Carolina gives up the second most fantasy points to opposing teams running backs. The price is right in DFS for you to get a great score from Singletary in a tournament in cash games in Week 8.

Wide Receivers
Kendrick Bourne – In the past two games Bourne has seen 18 targets, which he has turned into 12 receptions 152 yards, and a touchdown. The Dolphins, who have the ninth-friendliest defense to wide receivers are up in Week 8. The target volume is there as Bourne leads the Patriots with a 21% target share. The situation is right going up against the Dolphins. Bourne is a nice play in Week 8.

Christian Kirk – The Steelers give up a double-digit scorer at wide receiver every single game. This week that will be Kirk. Kirk leads the Jaguars in target share with 23% target share. Kirk also leads the Jaguars in receiving touchdowns with 3. I like Kirk this week going up against the Steelers defense that gives up the third most fantasy points to the wide receiver position. Kirk should have his way with the Steelers’ defense like Captain Kirk with a green-skinned alien.

$7,000 on FanDuel
AJ Brown – AJ Brown complained on the sideline about not being targeted. Brown now leads the Eagles in target share with 33% and in air yards with a whopping 49% of the air yards. The Commanders do not defend the pass well. In Week 4 the Eagles played the Commanders and Brown had 9 receptions for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns. Since loudly complaining AJ Brown has not scored below 15 fantasy points in a game. I am now hoping for another tirade and another huge game in Week 8.

Tight Ends
Travis Kelce – The Denver Broncos Defense is bad; the Kansas City Chiefs Tight End is good. How good is Kelce> He leads the Chiefs in target share with 26%, air yards with 29%, in receiving touchdowns with 4. Travis also has the stickiest of hands with a catch rate of 81%. Kelce has not seen less than 8 targets in a game this season. In the past 3 games, he has been on an absolute tear scoring 16 or more fantasy points each week. The Broncos give up the third most fantasy points to opposing teams’ tight ends. Kelce will most certainly be at the top of the tight end scoring charts this week.

Dareen Waller – Waller is the top option in the Giants passing game. In Week 8 he is going up against a defense that defends wide receivers well but is horrible against tight ends, The Jets. The Jets give up the most fantasy points per week to tight ends. In the past three games, Waller has picked up the pace of his production. He has seen 26 targets in those three games, turning that into 20 receptions, 227 yards and a touchdown. He should continue to roll in Week 8.

$6,400 on FanDuel
Taysom Hill – The most polarizing player that is listed as a tight end. In the past 2 games the Saints have decided to get Hill involved, especially in the red zone where they were stalling out. Hill had been both running the ball and catching the ball. Taysom had 8 total touches in Week 6. He had another 9 touches in Week 7. Hill topped 50 total yards in both of those games and scored a touchdown in one, scoring double-digit fantasy points both weeks. The Colts don’t defend tight ends or running backs especially well. Hill should be in line for another 8 to 10 total touches in Week 8.

Defense
Jets – The Giants give up the most fantasy points to opposing teams’ defenses. Defenses average over 15 fantasy points per game against the Giants. The Giants offensive line is pretty bad, it has given 37 sacks over 7 games this season. The flip side is that the Jets defense is good. The Jets’ defense has scored double-digit fantasy scores in each of their last 2 games. This looks like a game where the Jets will hit whoever is playing quarterback for the Giants, get a few interceptions, and score 10-15 fantasy points easily enough.

$4,600 on FanDuel
Eagles – The Eagles defense is good. The Commanders’ offensive line?… Not so good. The Commanders have given up even more sacks than the Giants. Sam Howell has been sacked 40 times on the year. Teams average almost 6 sacks per game against the Commanders. I see Howell in the dirt, whispering about seeing ghosts.

$5,000 on FanDuel
Texans – The Houston Defense has scored 8 or fantasy points in 4 out of 6 games this season. The Panthers give up the 8th most fantasy points to opposing teams’ defenses. This is a nice spot coming off a bye week for the Texans’ defense to rattle the rookie quarterback just enough here and there to register an interception or two, some sacks, and possibly a fumble recovery.

💔Heart Breakers
Quarter Backs
Joshua Dobbs – Starting with an easy one. Dobbs has only one touchdown in the last two games and has been pretty miserable for three straight games. To top it off the Cardinals play the Ravens in Week 8. The Ravens are the toughest defense against quarterbacks. If you were somehow hoping Dobbs would produce in Week 8 I am so sorry for your loss.
Joe Burrow – In 6 games this season Burrow only has one game in which he has scored over 20 fantasy points. Burrow has not been good. The San Fransisco 49ers on the other hand have been very good against quarterbacks. The Niners give up the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. Are you picking up what I am putting down here? YUCK.
Russell Wilson – The Chiefs give up the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. In Week 6 the Broncos played the Chiefs and Wilson threw for 95 yards and a touchdown. Wilson hasn’t passed for over 200 yards in 3 straight games. This is an easy avoid in all formats.
Running Backs
Brian Robinson – In Week 4 The Commanders played the Eagles. Robinson actually scored 12 fantasy points in that game. That is his ceiling. Only 3 running backs have scored double-digit fantasy points against the Eagles this season. No one has rushed for more than 53 yards against this defense. The Eagles give up the least amount of fantasy points to opposing teams running backs and that isn’t changing this week.
Derrick Henry – Henry has been quite the roller coaster this season when it comes to fantasy production. He has literally been up and down for the last 5 weeks. Week 8 is a down week. The Titans play the Falcons in Week 8. The Falcons are one of the toughest teams against running backs in the league. Between splitting time with Tyjae Spears and a tough match-up, I would look for someone other than King Henry.
Jonathan Taylor – JT is a player you are putting in your lineups in season-long no matter what. When it comes to DFS he is not someone to invest in for Week 8. The Saints are on the schedule, and they have the third toughest defense against the run. Taylor will also split time with Zach Moss. I am completely out in DFS.
Wide Receivers
Giants Wide Receivers – Jets give up the fewest points to the wide receiver position. Only 3 wide receivers have scored double-digit fantasy points against the Jets defense this season. The Giants boast such talent as Wan’Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton, etc. None of these guys are worth playing in Week 8.
DK Metcalf – The Seattle Seahawks play the Cleveland Browns in Week 8. The Browns give up the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing teams’ wide receivers. Only 3 wide receivers have scored touchdowns against this defense in the 2023 season. This doesn’t look good for the Seahawks wideouts in general.
Cooper Kupp – Not a single wide receiver this season has surpassed the 100-yard mark against the Cowboys. No one has even made it to 90 yards yet. That is because the Cowboys defense is really good against the pass. With that said I am playing Kupp and Puca Nakua in season-long wherever I have them. However, I would temper my expectations and avoid them in DFS.
Tight Ends
Mark Andrews – This is a floor game for Andrews in Week 8. The Cardinals are stingy against tight ends. They give up the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing teams’ tight ends. Andrews leads his team in targets, he will see those in Week 8. You are definitely playing him in season-long. This is 6 receptions for 60 yards type game for Andrews.
Noah Fant – I needed another super easy pick as I was writing this article. Are any of you even thinking about playing Noah Fant in Week 8? If you were playing him, we probably need to talk. Fant is barely targeted, he has had only 2 receptions in the last 2 games. In Week 8 the Broncos play the Brown who happen to be the toughest teams against tight ends. The thought of playing Fant made me throw up in my mouth. I need to go brush my teeth before I write up the last player, I’ll be right back.
Trey McBride – You just added McBride off the waiver wire, and you are so excited to plug him into your lineup because he had targets in Week 7 and Zach Ertz is done for the year. Well, the Ravens are up in Week 8. The Ravens have not given up a double-digit score to a tight end all season. McBride also has not scored more than 8 fantasy points this season. I like McBride, just not this week.
