Week 8 Sleepers and Streamers
Kalif Raymond (Detroit Lions)
The game of fantasy football is all about opportunity. The Detroit Lions are winless, and I’m not sure that’s going to change anytime soon. That means, their game scripts are always favorable toward the passing game. Swift is pretty much the Lions’ WR1, who also gets 8-12 carries per game, but coming in behind him is Kalif Raymond. Raymond is coming off of a 6-reception game for 116 yards and has 39 targets through 7 weeks. He’s barely owned in leagues, and until Jared Goff shows he can throw deep/for accuracy, Raymond will remain one of his favorite targets as he runs possession-type underneath routes and accrues a bunch of YAC. Snag him!
Jamal Agnew (Jacksonville Jaguars)
I might as well just copy and paste Kalif Raymond’s blurb from above. Trevor Lawrence is getting plenty opportunity to air it out, and Jamal Agnew is looking like a beneficiary of this. His situation is slightly worse than Raymond’s considering Agnew has Jones and Shenault in front of him on the depth chart, but Agnew is a sub-4.4 40-yard dash guy, who Urban Meyer is learning to love to use as a weapon. He’s an All-Pro returner, but as he’s transitioning to the WR role, he’s garnered 14 targets in the last two games. He’s safely the WR3 on this team, and I think he’s going to get better over time. He should have plenty of opportunity for targets against Seattle’s bottom tercile pass defense.
Boston Scott (Philadelphia Eagles)
It’s looking like Miles Sanders will miss Week 8, at least, with his recent ankle injury. Kenneth Gainwell is sure to take on Sanders’ role, but Boston Scott is the likely RB to take over Gainwell’s former role. Scott is an effective 3rd down/change-of-pace back, and he scored a TD last week. If I’m being honest, I don’t love any RB behind Jalen Hurts, as he caps RB upside with his scrambling ability, but this isn’t the slam dunk article. We’ve got to take some risks. Scott has plenty of upside.
