This week will be a first ever in the history of this tight end sleepers column. We will have a repeat headliner for the second week in a row in the Week 9 tight end sleepers.
I have been absolutely mindful of not repeating any player in these pieces at all- let alone consecutive weeks. However, with six teams on byes and the tight end position being a crap shoot if you are looking to stream, talent is scarce. If that weren’t enough (it actually is), there is a matchup so juicy that it has to be exploited this week.
Let’s dive into the Week 9 tight end Sleepers!
Week 9 Tight End Sleeper
Chris Herndon, New York Jets
Okay, that was close. I am right more than I am wrong on these sleeper articles (and believe me I am wrong a lot), but Chris Herndon was almost a bust last week.
only being targeted once in the entire game, anyone who started Herndon last week was bailed out by a 16-yard touchdown catch from the rookie. It was his third straight game with a touchdown.
The former Miami Hurricane will be coming home this week against the Dolphins. It is perfect timing for a warm welcome in Florida for Herndon has the Dolphins have allowed five touchdowns in the last three games to tight ends.
Despite his uninspiring two targets last week, it should be noted that Herndon played on a career-high 50 percent of snaps last week.
The Jets wide receivers have been decimated by injury. Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa have missed time and may not suit up this week.
Herndon is a guy you can grab off waivers and put into your lineup if you have a sticky BYE situation. He is a great daily Fantasy play as well. He is only $3,000 on DraftKings.
