Weekend Waiver Wire for NFL Week 5

Looks like more players are already listed as OUT or Doubtful by the minute. This means you might want to add someone that you can plug in or you may want to get a jump on who should be a good pick-up this coming week. Either way, we have you covered here. Come for the information and stay for the fun. Well, sometimes there is fun, not all the time, but sometimes.

Let’s get to the must-stashes that you can have prior to Week 5.

Week 5 Weekend Waiver Wire

Quarterbacks

Andy Dalton, Carolina Panthers

The Red Rifle is back again. In Week 3 Dalton threw for 319 yards and 3 touchdowns. He followed this up in Week 4 with 220 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Panthers’ skill position players have all come alive with Dalton at the helm. Please do not call him Red Rocket, that is something else.

Joe Flacco, Indianapolis Colts

Flacco came in for the injured Anthony Davis and passed for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns. Michael Pittman looked like a good wide receiver again. In Week 5 the Colts play the Jaguars. The Jaguars give up the second most fantasy points to quarterbacks. Old Joe is a plug-and-play in Week 5 if Richardson is out. Please be out Richardson, please. (yes, I know that is not nice)

Running Backs

Tyrone Tracey, New York Giants

Devin Singletary is doubtful for Week 5. Malik Nabors is already ruled out. The Giants play the Seahawks. The Seahawks give up the 14th most fantasy points to opposing teams running backs. Tracy is a former wide receiver who is available pretty much everywhere. I would add him and consider playing him if Singletary is out if you are running back needy.

Antonio Gibson, New England Patriots

Gibby has been making some big plays for the Patriots with either a big run or a big reception. Meanwhile, Rhamondre Stevenson has fumbled in 4 straight games. This week the Patriots play the Dolphins who give up the sixth most fantasy points to opposing teams running backs. I would add Gibson.

Other running backs to consider:

  • Tank Bigsby – Jaguars, 7 carries, 90 yards
  • Jeremy McNichols- Commanders, 8 carries 68 yards, 2 TDs, 1 receptions 6 yards
  • Justice Hill – 4 carries, 18 yards, 6 receptions 78 yards  TD

Wide Receivers

Xavier Legette, Carolina Panthers

In Week 4 Legette saw 10 targets. He turned those into 6 receptions, 66 yards and a touchdown. Legette also ran the ball twice for 10 yards. He had a 25% target share second only to Diontae Johnson. I would add him if I needed some wide receiver help.

Joshua Downs, Indianapolis Colts

In Week 4, Downs’ stat line looked like this: 9 targets, 8 receptions, 82 yards, and a touchdown. The Jaguars who give up the fifth most fantasy points to wide receivers is up next. I like him more if Flacco is playing but he should still be rostered.

Other wide receivers to consider:

  • Trey Tucker – Las Vegas Raiders, 6 Targets, 5 receptions, 41 yards, 1 carry 3 yards, TD.
  • Wan’Dale Robinson – New York Giants, 14 targets, 11 receptions, 83 yards.
  • Jordan Whittington – Los Angeles Rams, 8 targets, 6 receptions, 62 yards.

NOTE: Tucker and Robinson are making this article on a weekly basis and should be rostered.

Tight Ends

Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers

Kraft played 86% of the snaps. Leading all Packers tight ends in snap count in Week 4. He also saw 9 targets which he turned into 6 receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown. Tight end has been a mess. Jordan Love did a good job targeting his tight ends in 2023.

NOTE: Has tight end ever been this dismal?
