Weekend Waiver Wire for NFL Week 7

Banged up and bruised. Is that your team motto? It is the theme for 2024. So lets take a look at some players you may want to pick up prior to the start of Sunday’s games that can help you either immediately or down the road.

Who are these must-stashes that you need to add prior to the Sunday start? Well, I’ll tell you below.

Week 7 Weekend Waiver Wire

Quarterbacks

Andy Dalton, Carolina Panthers

If you need a quarterback to play in Week 7, Dalton is your guy. The Commanders are up and they give up the ninth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. Every quarterback to play the Commanders has passed for at least one touchdown this season. Dalton has multiple touchdowns in 3 out of 4 starts. His end-of-season match-ups are amazing as well.

Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets

He pushed his coach out. With Davante Adams onboard he now has his two all-time favorite wide receivers on the team (Adams and Allen Lazard). The third wheel at receiver might be one of the best in Garrett Wilson. Look for Rodgers to pass for a high number of touchdowns the rest of the way. When he gets what he wants he scores a lot of touchdowns.

Quarterback Notes: Rodgers is now a must-roster type of player. What he wants may not end up good for the Jets but may very well be good for fantasy.

Running Backs

Ray Davis, Buffalo Bills

James Cook missed Week 6 and Davis filled in magnificently in a tough matchup. He had 20 carries for 97 yards and 3 receptions for 55 yards. My friend over at Optimus Fantasy (Nate Polvogt) was telling me to expect this. I didn’t listen and add him, but I am now. You should too. If Cook misses any more time Davis is an absolute stud. They will probably play him more to help keep wear and tear down on Cook in the future as well.

Antonio Gibson, New England Patriots

Gibby, has been making some big plays for the Patriots with either a big run or a big reception. In Week 6 he didn’t do much though. But it is now Week 7. The Patriots play the Jaguars who give up the seventh most fantasy points to running backs. Rhamondre Stevenson didn’t practice on Thursday. If he misses Week 7, Gibby becomes plug-and-play.

Other running backs to consider:

  • Sean Tucker- Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 14 carries 136 yards, 3 receptions, 56 yards, 2 TDs
  • Tyler Allgeier – Atlanta Falcons, 18 carries, 105 yards, TD
  • Tre Sermon – Indianapolis Colts, stunk in a tough matchup Week 6. Plays Miami who is horrible at stopping the run in Week 7.

Running Back Notes: If Jonathan Taylor is out Sermon gets the Dolphins who give up the third most fantasy points to opposing teams running backs. Davis should be rostered everywhere now and surprisingly isn’t. Sean Tucker despite huge numbers in Week 6 is at best part of a 3 headed running back by committee.

Wide Receivers

Demario Douglas, New England Patriots

Somehow Douglas is not highly rostered. With Drake Maye at Quarterback in Week 6, Douglas saw 9 targets. He turned those into 6 receptions, 92 yards, and a touchdown. The Patriots passing offense ran a lot of crossing patterns and looked crisper. Douglas and Hunter Henry should both be added because of this. (more on Henry later).

Xavier Legette, Carolina Panthers

His target volume was down in Week 6, but he managed 3 receptions for 23 yards and a touchdown. The matchup is right in Week 7 against the Commanders. Not even a stash this week, he is a play.

Other wide receivers to consider:

  • Allen Lazard – New York Jets, 7 targets, 6 receptions, 114 yards, TD
  • Michael Wilson – Arizona Cardinal, 4 targets, 2 receptions, 21 yards, TD

Wide Receiver Notes: Douglas and Legette should both be rostered in 12-team or smaller leagues. I am surprised they are out there. Lazard is currently the overall WR8, even with Adams going to the Jets he should have value. If Marvin Harrison is out with a concussion Wilson is a sneaky play in Week 7.

Tight Ends

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots

The quarterback change to Drake Maye was very beneficial to Henry. He saw 5 targets, which he turned into 4 receptions, 41 yards, and a touchdown. He is potentially a top-10 player at tight end the rest of the way. In this messy tight end landscape, I am adding him.

Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

In Week 6 against The Saints Otton has 6 targets. He only got 2 receptions for 15 yards out of that volume. But he also scored a touchdown. He is averaging just under 7 targets a game the past 4 games. Add him.

Other tight ends to consider:

Colby Parkinson – Los Angeles Rams, Coming off a bye week he had 13 targets, 7 receptions, and 52 yards in Week 5

Tight End Notes: Henry is the primary add here, he should not have made it through waivers on Tuesday. Otton will also most likely find his way into the top twelve TE picture.
