2024-25 Dynasty Basketball Point Guard Rankings (Update)

This is the second update of the 2024-25 dynasty basketball point guard rankings and as expected there is some movement among several players. There is one new addition to the top-10, Dejounte Murray, causing Donovan Mitchell to fall out. Also, Isaiah Collier, one of the lesser known rookies from the 2024 draft class is starting to make some noise and rapidly climb the ranks. Let’s take a look at some of the other dynasty risers and fallers.

Dynasty Risers

Tyler Herro, Miami Heat

Herro is probably a 0.5 steal per game away from cracking the top-10 of the dynasty basketball point guard rankings, it’s really his only glaring weakness. He’s one of only four players averaging at least 24 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.o three-pointers per game this season. The other three players are LaMelo Ball, Jayson Tatum and Luka Doncic. Jimmy Butler has likely played his last game for the Heat, as he is suspended through the trade deadline. Herro has averaged 25.3 points and 9.7 assists in the last three games Butler has missed. He stands to shoulder even more of the scoring and be more of a facilitator for the Heat if Butler is indeed traded.

Isaiah Collier, Utah Jazz

Collier was drafted by the Jazz with the 29th overall selection in the 2024 draft. He only played 20 or minutes seven times through the first 32 games. However, he has played at least 20 minutes in each of his last 13 contests. He has entered the starting lineup for the last three games and may end up sticking there for the rest of the season as the Jazz are in tank mode. Collier has averaged 11.3 points, 8.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals over the last seven games. He has gone from not being ranked on the previous dynasty basketball point guard rankings to 38th on this update.

Dynasty Fallers

Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland Cavaliers

Mitchell’s fantasy numbers are down virtually across the board this season. His points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks have all plummeted since last year. Darius Garland and Evan Mobley have taken on larger roles offensively and it has had an effect on Mitchell. He is averaging 23.9 points, 4.5 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 3.4 three-pointers and 1.1 steals over the last month. He has dropped from 7th to 14th on this update of the dynasty basketball point guard rankings.

Reed Sheppard, Houston Rockets

The Rockets selected Sheppard with the third pick in the 2024 draft. However, the University of Kentucky star hasn’t been able to carve out a role with Houston in his rookie season. Sheppard is averaging a measly 3.2 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists this year. He has only played a total of 20 minutes combined over the last 16 games, with 16 of those minutes coming in blowouts. Sheppard has stiff competition for playing time with Fred VanVleet, Jalen Green, Amen Thompson, Dillon Brooks, Tari Eason and Cam Whitmore. If the Rockets pick up VanVleet’s option next season, all of those players should be returning in 2025-26, making it difficult for Sheppard to crack the rotation again. He certainly has high potential, but we could be waiting awhile before we actually see it. Sheppard falls six spots in the dynasty basketball point guard rankings.
