While we might not be reliving the days of Pudge and Piazza, the catcher position is not quite the black hole that it once was. There’s actually quite a bit of power at the position, and with batting averages down all across baseball, it negates some of the pain these low-average catchers used to come with. It still gets thin in two-catcher leagues but it’s not as hard as it used to be to come out of your draft with two productive catchers. The 2025 Catcher Rankings you’ll find a little further down the page are based on a 15-team mixed 5×5 roto league that employs two catchers. Those of you who play in one-catcher leagues can ignore the lower half.
Final 2024 Catcher Values
Before we get to catcher rankings for the 2025 season, it’s always a good idea to look back at the previous season. Sometimes we lose track of things that happened later in the season and we’re not getting the full picture. With that in mind here are the season-end 2024 catcher rankings and dollar values for a typical 15-team mixed 5×5 league as produced by the FanGraphs Auction Calculator.
