Week 12 is here, and the fantasy playoffs are staring us right in the face. If you’ve been rocking with my articles all season, hopefully I’ve helped you stack a few wins along the way. As always, we’re digging for gold at tight end — and yes, there’s still some out there.
Teams on Bye Week 12: Dolphins, Chargers, Broncos, Commanders
Before we dive in, do yourself a favor and make sure these guys aren’t sitting on your wire:
Juwan Johnson/Taysom Hill, Theo Johnson, Cade Otton, Harold Fannin, Colston Loveland

Week 12 Tight End Streamers
AJ Barner, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle’s been begging for a consistent No. 2 option behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba… and it sure looks like AJ Barner is stepping into that role.
Barner popped off against the Rams with 11 targets, 10 catches, and 70 yards, and he continues to be featured as the Seahawks’ “tush push” specialist. That gives him something most TE streamers don’t have: free goal-line equity.
He’s posted 11+ fantasy points in two of his last three, and he’s hit double digits in two-thirds of his games this year. Yes, there are week-to-week swings — but the volume is real. Since Week 1, Barner’s averaging 10.2 fantasy points per game, and no other Seahawks pass catcher outside JSN is seeing consistent usage.
Seattle faces four TE-friendly defenses in their next five. I’ve mentioned Barner several times this season, so this is your last opportunity.
Mason Taylor, New York Jets
Mason Taylor cooled off for a bit, but context is king:
-
Broke out in Week 4 vs. Miami
-
First NFL TD in Week 9
-
11 targets over his last two games with Tyrod Taylor
The dip happened the second Justin Fields returned… but Fields is now on the bench, Tyrod is back under center, and Taylor’s ceiling immediately spikes. Tyrod has always been a TE-friendly QB, and this offense is starving for a reliable intermediate option.
Here’s what the underlying usage says since Week 4:
•20.2% target share • 33.8 yards per game • 1.22 YPRR • 22.5% first-read share • 7 red-zone targets
He’s already posted three TE1 weeks in that stretch.
The matchup vs. the Ravens is tough, but volume > matchup — especially in an offense that has no one left outside Garrett Wilson. A weekly top-10 ceiling is absolutely in play.
Week 12 Tight End Sleepers
Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars
Brenton Strange didn’t make it back this past week, but his return is coming — and the moment he’s active, he deserves to be rostered.
Jacksonville is banged up everywhere. Travis Hunter is done for the year; Brian Thomas Jr. is hurting. We can’t expect Parker Washington and newly acquired Jakobi Meyers to absorb everything. When Strange was healthy earlier in the season, he was:
-
Jacksonville’s leader in receptions
-
Averaging 4.8 targets per game
-
Posted 20 receptions for 204 yards on 24 targets
-
Saw 7+ targets in Weeks 3 and 4
He earned Trevor Lawrence’s trust early, and there’s a massive target vacuum with everyone hurt. Once Strange returns — possibly this week — he slides right back into low-end TE1 territory. He’s one of the best stashes for playoff upside.
Chig Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans
With Calvin Ridley out for the season and Chimere Dike dealing with a concussion, someone has to catch passes… but let’s be honest: the Titans’ passing attack caps his ceiling.
Chig is in play as a desperation streamer, but you know what you’re signing up for — usage volatility tied to a low-volume passing offense.
The Steelers TE Carousel
I honestly thought Pat Freiermuth would show signs of life in Week 11. Instead, Darnell Washington said, “I’ll take it from here.”
Washington caught 4 passes for 67 yards on 5 targets. This is his fourth game of the season with five looks. At 6’7”, he’s a walking red-zone threat.
If he keeps stacking usage like this, he’ll separate himself. The problem is that only one of Jonnu Smith, Friermuth, or Washington can put up decent numbers in a given week. Honestly, just keep observing, but I would still pick up Washington after the waivers clear.
