Welcome to the Week 17 Fantasy QB Rankings — and for most of you reading this, it’s Championship Week. For a few of you who ran into some brutal luck, it’s the third-place game. And for the bravest (or most unhinged) among us, it’s somehow still the Semifinals, with a championship cruelly set for Week 18.
To those managers, I say this with love: you are braver than I.

Now that the pleasantries are out of the way, it’s time to gift your squad a fantasy title. Just consider me Santa, and this quarterback rankings sleigh is packed with Christmas goodies designed to deliver you a big, beautiful “W” under the tree.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year — not because of the carols or the lights — but because one correct start/sit decision can turn an entire season into a championship memory.
So without further ado, let’s dive into the Week 17 Fantasy QB Rankings so you can lock in your lineup and get back to the Christmas festivities.
🔙 Looking Back: What Week 16 Taught Us About the Quarterback Rankings
Week 16 delivered fireworks, heartbreak, and just enough chaos to remind us why fantasy football is the most emotionally abusive hobby on the planet.
Let’s start at the top.
Brock Purdy put on a clinic on Monday Night Football against Old Man Rivers, accounting for 31.9 fantasy points and finishing as the QB1 overall for the first time this season. Calm, efficient, and ruthless — it was a reminder that when the matchup is right, Purdy can absolutely carry fantasy teams.
Trevor Lawrence wasn’t far behind, posting 31.2 fantasy points as he marched into Denver and took down the No. 1–seeded Broncos. The Jaguars might actually be for real, and Lawrence is playing with confidence, aggression, and rhythm at exactly the right time of year.
And we have to talk about one of the most entertaining games of the season: Rams vs. Seahawks.
Matthew Stafford was outstanding, totaling 30.9 fantasy points to finish as the QB3, while Sam Darnold kept pace with 21.5 fantasy points, finishing as the QB8. That game had playoff energy from start to finish and rewarded anyone brave enough to lean into the environment.
Unfortunately, Week 16 also handed us a lump of coal.
Josh Allen managed just 6.9 fantasy points, almost certainly ending semifinal runs across the fantasy world. The good news is that Bills camp expects him to be healthier this week — and if you somehow survived, he remains an elite championship-week option.
Lamar Jackson totaled just 4.7 fantasy points before exiting early with a bruised back. I’ll rank him as if he plays, but even at full strength, traveling to Green Bay in December is no easy assignment.
And finally, Jacoby Brissett fell out of QB1 territory for the first time all season, totaling just 11.6 fantasy points after starting his year with nine straight QB1 finishes. It was bound to happen eventually — and timing, unfortunately, is everything.
Now let’s apply those lessons to the Week 17 slate.
🔥 High-Total Games (47+)
These games carry real shootout juice — the environments you want to lean into during championship week.
Arizona Cardinals @ Cincinnati Bengals — O/U 53.5
Joe Burrow — This is as good as it gets. Massive total, fast pace, and a defense that can be attacked through the air. Burrow is locked in as an elite QB1 with week-winning upside.
Jacoby Brissett — Brissett finished outside the Top-12 for the first time all season last week, but he draws an excellent bounce-back spot in Cincinnati. Facing the high-flying Bengals and a supremely confident Joe Burrow should force the game script into pass-heavy mode.
Chicago Bears @ San Francisco 49ers — O/U 52.5
Brock Purdy — Another elite environment, another smash spot. Purdy’s efficiency and surrounding talent make him a rock-solid QB1 with upside. Even without Kittle, he still carries a QB1 floor with top-five potential.
Caleb Williams — High total keeps him interesting, but this is still a tough road matchup. He profiles as a high-end QB2/low-end QB1 who can pay off if the game turns pass-heavy.
Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Commanders — O/U 51.0
Dak Prescott — Volume, red-zone opportunities, and matchup all align. Dak is a high-end QB1 in a game that should force Dallas to stay aggressive.
Josh Johnson — With Marcus Mariota all but ruled out this week, journeyman Josh Johnson draws the start in a cake matchup against the Cowboys. With Washington out of playoff contention, it’s hard to see Johnson throwing enough to be fantasy-relevant. That said, there is an outside chance that head coach Dan Quinn lets his third-string quarterback air it out to try to keep pace, which would at least give Johnson some sneaky upside—especially considering the weapons around him.
Los Angeles Rams @ Atlanta Falcons — O/U 50.0
Matthew Stafford — Stafford has been dealing lately, and this total reflects trust in both offenses. He’s a confident QB1 play in championship week.
Kirk Cousins — Cousins benefits from game script and matchup. He’s a solid QB2 with QB1 upside if Atlanta leans pass-heavy.
⚖️ Mid-Range Games (44–47)
Balanced matchups that can swing either direction depending on game flow.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts — O/U 48.0
Trevor Lawrence — You don’t fade a quarterback playing this well in a near-50 total. Lawrence is a high-end QB1.
Philip Rivers — Rivers has finished as the QB29 and QB13 over his first two starts, respectively, and now draws a tough matchup against a Jaguars defense that has allowed the seventh-fewest fantasy points per game to quarterbacks over the past three weeks. Start him at your own risk.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Miami Dolphins — O/U 45.5
Baker Mayfield — Baker hasn’t been himself over the past five games, finishing as the QB27, QB18, QB20, QB14, and QB20, respectively. The matchup against the Dolphins looks excellent on paper, but Miami has quietly been decent, allowing the 15th-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks over the past three weeks, so they’re not quite as soft as they appear. Still, this profiles as a get-right spot for Baker, and he should be trusted as a solid QB2.
Quinn Ewers — Ewers made his first career start last week after the Dolphins benched a struggling Tua Tagovailoa, completing 20 of 30 passes for 260 yards and two interceptions in a blowout loss to the Bengals. He didn’t look great, but the upside is there this week against a Buccaneers defense that has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks over the past three weeks. This should be a pass-heavy game script at home, where Ewers will be forced to keep pace with Baker, giving him some sneaky fantasy appeal in deep Superflex leagues.
Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings — O/U 43.5
Jared Goff — Indoors, high efficiency, and consistent red-zone volume keep Goff firmly in the QB1 mix. He’s offering both stability and upside, highlighted by back-to-back finishes as the QB5 and QB6 over the past two weeks.
Max Brosmer — If you have to start him, may the odds be ever in your favor.
❄️ Low-Total Games (Under 44)
These games project slower and more defensively. Trust elite talent, but manage expectations.
Baltimore Ravens @ Green Bay Packers — O/U 40.5
Lamar Jackson — Despite leaving last week’s game with a bruised back, there’s optimism he’ll be able to suit up in Green Bay. If active, he profiles as a high-end QB2 with clear upside. If he can’t go, Tyler Huntley would get the start and would be no more than a QB3 at best against a tough Packers defense in Lambeau.
Jordan Love — Love (concussion) participated in Tuesday’s practice in a limited capacity, which is encouraging. Still, even if he suits up, he isn’t an advisable start if you have better options. That said, playing at home gives him just enough appeal to be considered a low-end QB2.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cleveland Browns — O/U 33.5
Aaron Rodgers — “Unc” Rodgers has settled in as the QB18 in back-to-back weeks, and now he heads on the road to face a stingy Browns defense. Expectations should be kept in check here — he profiles as no more than a QB3, though there’s still some fringe upside if the game script cooperates.
Shedeur Sanders — Shedeur has finished as the QB31 and QB22 over his past two games after posting a QB2 finish back in Week 14. He’s not an advisable start, even at home against division rival Pittsburgh. Consider him a QB3 with low-end QB2 upside.
New England Patriots @ New York Jets — O/U 42.5
Drake Maye — Maye hasn’t finished outside the QB1 tier since Week 9, and there’s no reason to expect that streak to end against a horrid Jets defense that has allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks over the past three weeks. Even if the Patriots jump out to an early lead, Maye should do enough damage in the first half to finish as a QB1. Start with confidence.
Brady Cook — Cook has started three straight games for the Jets, finishing as the QB26, QB26, and QB30 in those contests. While a negative game script could create some volume-based upside, he isn’t worth starting outside of the deepest superflex leagues.
Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs — O/U 43.5
Bo Nix — Facing a recent practice squad call-up, Nix shouldn’t need to do much to secure a win. Still, he should “eat” early, producing solid fantasy value in the first half before head coach Sean Payton likely calls off the dogs.
Chris Oladokun — See Max Brosmer.
Houston Texans @ L.A. Chargers — O/U 39.5
C.J. Stroud — The total is ugly, but Stroud’s talent gives him a path to a strong outing. A risky QB2 with upside.
Justin Herbert — Health still caps the ceiling, but he finally broke out of his slump with a QB1 finish last week after posting finishes of QB17, QB31, QB19, QB17, and QB27 over his previous five games. It’s a tough matchup, but at home, he should still deliver QB1 numbers.
Final Thoughts
Championship week is not about loyalty — it’s about leverage, matchup, and confidence. Don’t be afraid to trust the numbers, trust the environment, and trust the process that got you here.
Set your lineup. Pour the eggnog. And let’s bring home a fantasy title. 🎄🏆
