Week 5 Tight End Sleepers and Streamers
Streamers
Evan Engram, Denver Broncos
The veteran tight end continues to be a steady piece in the Broncos’ offense, drawing 13 targets across his last two games. In Week 5, he caught eight passes from Bo Nix for 62 yards and a touchdown. Engram’s usage under Sean Payton is extremely encouraging — and his next three matchups (Jets, Giants, Cowboys) are all exploitable spots. If he’s still out there, grab him.
AJ Barner, Seattle Seahawks
In a 38-35 shootout, AJ Barner showed out — catching seven passes for 53 yards and two touchdowns. He’s now scored four times in four games and has finished as a top-10 tight end in three of the last four weeks. While he’s touchdown-dependent, the usage is trending in the right direction.
Barner’s target share has jumped from 13% to 22% over the last two weeks, and he currently leads Seattle with five red-zone targets and three inside the 10-yard line. For now, he’s a touchdown-or-bust TE2, but he’s out snapping rookie Elijah Arroyo and edging toward weekly TE1 territory.
Barner is scorching hot as he’s tied for the league lead in touchdown receptions among tight ends. It’s impossible to ignore his production. Barner should be on your bench with potential to start.
Harold Fannin Jr., Cleveland Browns
Harold Fannin’s ownership dipped recently, but he reminded everyone in Week 5 that he’s still part of this offense. In his first game catching passes from Dillon Gabriel, he hauled in four catches for 13 yards and a touchdown.
David Njoku dominated the target share (28.1%), but Fannin still found the end zone and remains involved in two-tight-end sets. He’s not a weekly starter yet, but he’s worth a bench stash, especially with Cedric Tillman on the IR. Cleveland continues to feature tight ends heavily, and if anything happens to Njoku, Fannin becomes the TE1 on a team going nowhere.
Mason Taylor, New York Jets
I have been pounding the table for Mason Taylor for weeks, and here he is. The rookie has been one of the few bright spots on a winless Jets squad, emerging as a legitimate second option behind Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson.
Taylor’s role has exploded recently — he’s run a route on 80% of Justin Fields’ drop-backs over the past two games while commanding a 25% target share. He’s now finished as a TE1 in consecutive weeks, averaging 14.6 fantasy points per game in that span.
In Week 5, Taylor led all Jets in targets (12) and ranked third among all tight ends in target share (27.3%). He’s also tied for the team lead in red-zone targets and ranks third at the position over the past three weeks in target share (23.6%), trailing only Jake Ferguson and Trey McBride.
Even with a tough matchup in London against the Broncos, Taylor’s usage makes him a strong start. Denver has been stingy against tight ends per-target, but allows one of the highest overall target rates to the position. The game script should call for the Jets to be playing from behind. Look for Taylor to once again have a solid day.
Tight End Sleepers
Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Cade Otton finally woke up in Week 5, hauling in four catches for 81 yards — his second-highest yardage total in a regular-season game. After serving mostly as a blocker through the first month, he became more involved in the passing game, setting new season highs in targets, receptions, and yards.
Otton’s production has spiked in the last two games. Without Mike Evans, Otton is averaging 4.5 targets. His recent performance puts him into stash consideration, but in a pinch is startable for Week 6 against the 49ers.
Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints
Fantasy’s favorite Swiss army knife is back. Taysom Hill made his 2025 debut as he slid right back into his do-it-all role in his first game since tearing his ACL late last season. The veteran only saw nine offensive snaps, but he was heavily involved whenever he was on the field — getting multiple looks in short-yardage and third-down situations.
Keep an eye on his usage heading into Week 6 against New England, however, put a claim in for him now to see what magic might happen. He’s high-variance but few tight ends have his weekly upside.
