You should be evaluating your roster every week. That doesn’t mean making rash decisions and dropping players with real value in the future. However, some players show their true colors and have little hope. These players all have shown an inability to perform well enough to justify rostering. Drop these players in Week 9 and tune up your fantasy football team.

Week 9 Players You Can Drop
All players are rostered in over 50% of Fantrax leagues
Justin Herbert – QB, Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers passing game looked solid to start Week 8, but it quickly fell apart. Justin Herbert completed a 54-yard pass to Ladd McConkey that was just inches away from being a TD to end the first half. That play accounted for 21% of Herbert’s passing yards this week. Herbert finished with no scores and two interceptions this week. That makes seven straight games where Herbert has scored fewer than 17 fantasy points this season. While the return of Ladd McConkey should continue to benefit Herbert and the Chargers offense, there is just too much wrong with this team. Justin Herbert is still rostered in 76% of Fantrax leagues, but you can drop him in Week 9.
Kendre Miller – RB, New Orleans Saints
The Saints were on bye this week, but Miller is still droppable. Kendre Miller has split work with Alvin Kamara but has led with 45 opportunities (combined rushes and targets) compared to Kamara’s 28 over the past three weeks. Despite that, Miller has failed to score more than nine PPR points in a single game this season. That includes a game where Miller ran a whopping 20 times and drew two targets. Miller leads the Saints in red zone rushes with 12, but Tyler Shough and Alvin Kamara steal work there too. Within five yards of the end zone, Shough actually rushes more than Miller. Travis Etienne could also return, making this backfield even more complicated. Miller has been unable to produce fantasy value when he has a massive workload. Things would only get worse with Etienne back. Drop Kendre Miller in Week 9 and find an RB with a better situation.
Rashod Bateman – WR, Baltimore Ravens
While Rashod Bateman was second on the Ravens in routes run this week, Ja’Kobi Lane is emerging as a real weapon in this offense. Even worse, Lamar Jackson is being placed on IR. Tyler Huntley has been very inconsistent when starting for the Ravens. When he has done well throwing, he mostly targets Zay Flowers. In four full games with Tyler Huntley, Bateman has averaged just 3.5 targets. Bateman’s best game was a 5-catch, 62-yard game against the Falcons. Without Lamar Jackson, this entire offense becomes difficult to trust outside of Zay Flowers. There is also competition for everyone below Flowers. Drop Bateman in Week 9 with Lamar out for the foreseeable future.
Mark Andrews – TE, Baltimore Ravens
Much like Rashod Bateman, Mark Andrews loses most of his upside with Lamar Jackson hurt. Once an elite fantasy football TE option, Andrews is now looking like a drop candidate. Andrews had under 500 yards and just five TDs in 17 games last year. He’s on pace to do about the same this year. Andrews has scored just one TD this season and has failed to produce a 50-yard game so far. Whether it has been with Lamar Jackson, in a pass-heavy game script, or in a great matchup, Andrews has just failed to produce from a fantasy perspective. There are plenty of tight ends like Andrews on the wire with even more upside. Add them in Week 9 instead.
