Welcome to our Week 8 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings!
Last week, Joe Burrow found himself as the overall QB1 for the first time this season after accumulating 28.9 fantasy points. Meanwhile, Drake Maye finished as the QB2 with 28.4 fantasy points. Additionally, Bo Nix—a.k.a. “Usain Bo”—took a 62-yard run to the house to finish as the QB3 with 26.3 fantasy points. That was by far his best finish of the season. I ranked him higher than consensus last week due to the favorable matchup, and he certainly did not disappoint!

Week 7 Duds & Bounce-Back Targets
On the flip side, we saw plenty of ugly performances last week. For example, Baker Mayfield finished as the QB26 with just 6.7 fantasy points. Similarly, Bryce Young finished as the QB24 with 7.4 fantasy points. Furthermore, Brock Purdy provided the ultimate disappointment with just 14 fantasy points to finish as the QB11. That was his lowest quarterback finish of the season. Even though he has been superb all year, Purdy is not immune when his wide receivers are banged up. Additionally, star running back Christian McCaffrey was hampered by a hamstring injury.
However, with Brock Purdy on a bye week and Baker Mayfield on bench watch, I expect Bryce Young to bounce back. He faces the Packers this week and possesses clear QB1 upside. Specifically, he travels to Green Bay to meet a surging Jordan Love, meaning he will have to throw often to keep pace!
Without further ado, here are my Week 8 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings!
Tier 1: League of His Own
1) Josh Allen (vs. BAL)
Josh Allen (QB1): Allen returns after his bye week to face a middle-of-the-road Ravens defense. Baltimore will try everything to stop him. Nevertheless, expect this matchup between Allen and Lamar Jackson to be must-watch TV. Get your popcorn ready!
Tier 2: Elite QB1s
2) Drake Maye (@ MIA) | 3) Lamar Jackson (@ BUF) | 4) Joe Burrow (vs. TEN)
Lamar Jackson (QB3): Jackson should make his return from injury this week. Fortunately, it comes just in time for a trip to Buffalo to face Josh Allen. Therefore, this game has all the makings of a classic shootout between two elite rushing quarterbacks. As a result, expect Jackson to go blow-for-blow with Allen and deliver video game numbers!
Tier 3: High-End QBs with Upside
5) Dak Prescott (vs. ARI) | 6) Jayden Daniels (vs. PHI) | 7) Trevor Lawrence (vs. IND)
Dak Prescott (QB5): Prescott is coming off an impressive performance last week where he carved up the Eagles for 23.3 fantasy points. Therefore, I expect him to keep that momentum going this week. He welcomes an Arizona Cardinals defense that is surrendering the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks over the past three weeks.
Jayden Daniels (QB6): Daniels comes out of his bye week locked and loaded. He faces an Eagles defense allowing 21.6 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks over the past three weeks. Because Daniels uses his legs and had an extra week to heal up, he should easily carve up this defense and post top-10 numbers.
Tier 4: Talented with Matchup Volatility
8) Caleb Williams (@ SEA) | 9) Matthew Stafford (vs. LAC) | 10) Jordan Love (vs. CAR) | 11) Jared Goff (vs. MIN) | 12) Jacoby Brissett (@ DAL) | 13) Bryce Young (@ GB)
Jacoby Brissett (QB12): Brissett is the QB14 over the past three weeks, averaging 16.6 fantasy points per game. That includes a rough Week 6 performance before he rebounded nicely last week. Even though the Cowboys allow the 11th-fewest fantasy points to QBs recently, I expect Brissett to throw a lot to keep pace with Dallas. He proved his high ceiling in Week 5 with 25.3 fantasy points. Moreover, he has capable pass-catchers, so this game could turn into a sneaky shootout.
Tier 5: QB2s with Some Upside
14) Kyler Murray (@ DET) | 15) Kirk Cousins (@ NYJ) | 16) Patrick Mahomes (@ DEN)
Kyler Murray (QB14): Reports indicate Murray is still getting comfortable with Minnesota’s offensive playbook. That explains his conservative numbers recently. However, coming out of the bye week, he gets an ideal matchup. He faces a Lions defense allowing the eighth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks over the past three weeks.
Tier 6: Floor QB2 Options
17) Geno Smith (vs. LV) | 18) Sam Darnold (vs. CHI) | 19) Malik Willis (vs. NE) | 20) Aaron Rodgers (vs. CLE)
Geno Smith (QB17): Smith has been middle-of-the-road as the QB16 over the past three weeks. That ranking was largely boosted by his impressive QB5 finish in Week 6. However, this week he faces a Raiders defense allowing the most fantasy points to quarterbacks over the last three weeks at 25.8 points per game. Therefore, expect him to carry his momentum forward and post a strong fantasy output.
Tier 7: Deep Superflex & Desperation Plays
21) Baker Mayfield (vs. ATL) | 22) Michael Penix Jr. (@ TB) | 23) Bo Nix (vs. KC) | 24) Deshaun Watson (@ PIT)
Bo Nix (QB23): Some managers might think this ranking is too low for someone who just finished as the QB3 last week. However, Nix faces a brutal assignment against a tough Chiefs defense. Kansas City gives up the sixth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks on the season. Consequently, expect a low-scoring battle that gives Nix a relatively low floor.
Tier 8: Emergency Options
25) Tanner McKee (@ WAS) | 26) Cam Ward (@ CIN) | 27) Justin Herbert (@ LAR) | 28) Daniel Jones (@ JAC)
