2026 Fantasy Football: Week 8 Tight End Rankings

How can we follow up on the excitement of National Tight End Week? By doing exactly the same thing once again. In fact, it’s the same thing we’ve been doing all season, as there’s an abundance of young, exciting tight ends across the NFL. Now, let’s take a look at our NFL Week 8 tight end rankings in the quest to set a winning lineup.

Tight End Notes

T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings

Let’s target the Detroit Lions. After all, they are the team that’s allowing the most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season. Last week, Hockenson caught four of his five targets for 35 yards and his second touchdown of the year. Comparing Hockenson to the new guard at tight end might not be especially fair to the veteran, but he’s still more than capable while being one of the top options in Minnesota’s passing game.

A majority of production for the season stems back to a 13-catch, 119-yard effort against Miami in Week 4. In six games this season, the Lions have allowed 602 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns to opposing tight ends. If you don’t have a top option at the position, Hockenson should surge to the top of that list.

Greg Dulcich, Miami Dolphins

Dulcich is someone we haven’t really talked about much this season, but he’s beginning to force our hand. Yes, the Dolphins aren’t exactly an offensive force, and their only win came against the New York Jets, but we shouldn’t completely ignore them either. Malik Willis is a seemingly competent quarterback, and game flow supports taking it to the air.

If we exclude Week 4, in which he wasn’t targeted, Dulcich has 12 catches on 17 targets in his last three games for 172 yards. He’s still looking for his first touchdown, but five catches for 86 yards got our attention last week. As we work through the bye weeks, Dulcich already had his; this could be a situation to target.

Harold Fannin, Cleveland Browns

Don’t look now, but the Browns have become a team that deserves our attention. To a degree, Fannin has suffered as Cleveland added rookie receivers KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, but in the long run, it should serve to benefit him. He’s now past a recent stretch in which he had two straight games of only one reception each.

Last week against the Tennessee Titans, Fannin caught our attention with six catches for 91 yards. Based on what we’ve seen from him to this point in his young career, the success isn’t exactly surprising. With Deshaun Watson playing well and the Browns riding positive momentum, let’s look for it to continue.

Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions

Following Detroit’s bye week, there was some additional drama regarding LaPorta’s contract situation. It wasn’t a great sign that he followed that up with a dud performance. Last week, LaPorta finished with just one catch for 18 yards on two targets. That stands in contrast to his 27 catches for 316 yards to begin the season over five games.

Things might not bounce back to that level in a tough matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, but there’s also no need to panic. He still has a vital role within Detroit’s offense, and that will translate to high-level production.
