Welcome to our Week 9 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings!
Last week, Joe Burrow found himself once again as the overall QB1 for the second week in a row. Usually, two good games mean a player is heating up in NBA Jam terms. However, since Burrow finished as the overall QB1 two weeks in a row, he is not only on fire—he has the blue flames scorching hot right now! He accumulated a massive 42.5 fantasy points last week, delivering one of the best quarterback performances of the season. Following him was Kirk Cousins as the QB2 with 28.2 fantasy points. Meanwhile, old reliable Josh Allen finished as the QB3 with 27.6 fantasy points. Additionally, a newcomer to the top five was Cam Ward, who totaled 26.3 fantasy points. It was great to see Ward keep pace in a high-scoring duel with Burrow. Even though he came up short in the game, he certainly got the job done for fantasy managers who started him in deep Superflex leagues!

Week 8 Duds & Bounce-Back Targets
On the flip side, Matthew Stafford struggled mightily with just 9.3 fantasy points. In fact, he was bested by one of the most disappointing fantasy drafts in recent memory, Justin Herbert, who finished with 9.8 points. Furthermore, Jared Goff finished as the QB20 with only 10.0 fantasy points. However, I expect Goff to bounce back in a massive way this week in Miami!
Without further ado, here are my Week 9 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings!
Tier 1: League of His Own
1) Josh Allen (@ MIN)
Josh Allen (QB1): Allen returned from his bye week to post ho-hum top-three quarterback numbers last week. Even though he faces a stiff test against a vaunted Vikings defense in Minnesota, Allen is completely matchup-proof. Therefore, expect him to have no problem finishing inside the top five thanks to his dynamic rushing floor.
Tier 2: Elite QB1s
2) Drake Maye (vs. GB) | 3) Joe Burrow (@ ATL) | 4) Brock Purdy (vs. LV)
Joe Burrow (QB3): You knew I was going to mention him again after finishing as the overall QB1 in back-to-back weeks! Even though Cincinnati is traveling on the road, Atlanta does not pose a serious defensive threat. Moreover, with the Bengals’ defense struggling on the other side, this game has all the makings of a shootout. Consequently, expect Burrow to throw all game, giving him a safe floor and top-three upside once again.
Tier 3: High-End QBs with Upside
5) Jared Goff (@ MIA) | 6) Trevor Lawrence (@ BAL) | 7) Patrick Mahomes (vs. NYJ) | 8) Dak Prescott (@ IND) | 9) Caleb Williams (vs. TB) | 10) Jordan Love (@ NE) | 11) Jayden Daniels (vs. LAR) | 12) Matthew Stafford (@ WAS)
Patrick Mahomes (QB7): I am much higher on Patrick Mahomes than consensus this week. Last week, he traveled to Denver and carved up a tough Broncos defense for over 300 yards and 25.4 fantasy points to finish as the QB5. Now, he returns home with his healthy core of pass-catchers, including Rashee Rice. Furthermore, the Jets have surrendered the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks over the last three weeks, making this a prime spot for Mahomes to smash.
Tier 4: Talented with Matchup Volatility
13) Kirk Cousins (@ SF) | 14) Sam Darnold (vs. ARI) | 15) Malik Willis (vs. DET) | 16) Tyler Shough (vs. CLE) | 17) Bryce Young (vs. DEN) | 18) Bo Nix (@ CAR)
Kirk Cousins (QB13): Cousins has been on a tear over the past three weeks, posting QB9, QB9, and QB2 finishes. He shows no signs of slowing down as Vegas travels to San Francisco. Fortunately for Cousins, the 49ers defense is allowing the ninth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks over the last three weeks. As a result, keep Cousins locked in as a high-end option.
Tier 5: QB2s with Some Upside
19) Deshaun Watson (@ NO) | 20) C.J. Stroud (@ LAC) | 21) Geno Smith (@ KC) | 22) Kyler Murray (vs. BUF) | 23) J.J. McCarthy (@ PHI)
Geno Smith (QB21): Smith has been low-key reliable over the past two weeks, finishing as the QB5 and QB13 against Miami and Las Vegas. Additionally, Adonai Mitchell blew up last game, and their connection looks rock solid. Even though traveling to Kansas City is a tough test, Smith should benefit from a negative game script. Expect him to throw constantly to keep up with Mahomes on the other side.
Tier 6: Floor QB2 Options
24) Michael Penix Jr. (vs. CIN) | 25) Justin Herbert (vs. HOU) | 26) Baker Mayfield (@ CHI) | 27) Gardner Minshew (@ SEA) | 28) Tanner McKee (vs. NYG)
Michael Penix Jr. (QB24): Penix turned into a pumpkin in Week 8 against Tampa Bay with only 2.1 fantasy points. However, before that dud, he finished as the QB5 and QB8 against the Bears and 49ers. Additionally, the Bengals defense just allowed Cam Ward to finish as the QB4 overall last week. Therefore, I am willing to take a chance on Penix as a sneaky streamer in deep Superflex leagues.
Tier 7: Deep Superflex & Desperation Plays
29) Daniel Jones (vs. DAL) | 30) Joe Fagnano (vs. JAC)
