2026 Fantasy Football: Week 9 Weekend Waiver Stashes

Hello, my little must-stashios, and welcome to the Week 9 edition of Weekend Waiver Stashes. You will find players to add and stash, plus some to plug and play ahead of Sunday’s Week 9 games.

The best additions often come after all the news and updates at week’s end. I’m surprised many of these players are still in under 50% of leagues. Grab them today before they break out.

Week 9 Weekend Waiver Wire

Quarterbacks

Malik Willis, Miami Dolphins

He has over 200 total yards and multiple touchdowns in three straight games. I have him as a plug-and-play in Week 9 against the Lions. The Lions, you see, give up the most fantasy points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks.

Drew Lock, Seattle Seahawks

In his last start, Lock threw for 235 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Cardinals in Week 2. In Week 9, Lock is getting the start because Sam Darnold is hurt. The opponent is once again the Cardinals. The Cardinals give up the second most fantasy points to quarterbacks. So if you don’t like the idea of Willis as a plug-and-play in Week 9, Lock is your guy.

Other quarterbacks to consider

  • Geno Smith, New York Jets: 290 yards, 2 TDs
  • Gardner Minshew, Arizona Cardinals: 188 yards, 3 TDs

Quarterback Notes: Willis would be my first choice in a standard league, again this week. Lock is worth adding if you need help this week only, but if Darnold is out next week, the Seahawks have another good matchup then against the Raiders. Geno Smith has a tough matchup this week and a tough schedule. Minshew looks like he is the starter for the foreseeable future for Arizona, as Jacoby Brissett is getting traded to the Ravens. You may want to consider Brissett an add as well.

Running Backs

Emmett Johnson, Kansas City Chiefs

Explosive speed? Check. Receiving opportunities in Week 8? Check. Johnson caught all five targets for 128 yards and a touchdown. That kind of performance can earn a player more work, but five targets do not usually produce 128 yards. Add the upside without expecting a weekly repeat while Kenneth Walker remains healthy.

Mike Washington Jr., Las Vegas Raiders

Washington carried the ball 25 times for 83 yards in Week 8, while Ashton Jeanty handled the receiving work. Am I positive this arrangement will continue? No. If it does, do I want Washington rostered? Absolutely. Twenty-five carries get my attention even when the touchdowns do not follow.

Other Running Backs to Consider

  • Dylan Sampson, Cleveland Browns: One carry for seven yards; six receptions on eight targets for 62 yards.
  • Kenneth Gainwell, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 25 carries for 140 yards.
  • Kaelon Black, San Francisco 49ers: Approximately 31% rostered on Yahoo; 12 carries for 63 yards and a touchdown in Week 7 before the bye.
  • Seth McGowan, Indianapolis Colts: Approximately 31% rostered on Yahoo; speculative addition while Jonathan Taylor’s trade situation develops.

Running Back Notes: Washington tops this group with a path to meaningful rushing volume, while Sampson’s receiving role boosts his appeal in PPR leagues. Black is a priority stash while we monitor Christian McCaffrey’s injury, and Johnson brings receiving upside as insurance behind Kenneth Walker III. Gainwell’s 25 carries came in a bizarre game in which Tampa Bay completed no passes; don’t expect that workload to become the norm. McGowan is a speculative stash ahead of a potential Jonathan Taylor trade, with his value tied to an opportunity that hasn’t opened yet and may not.

Wide Receivers

Ryan Flournoy, Dallas Cowboys

George Pickens is dinged up and looked it in Week 8. Flournoy saw 4 targets and caught 3 for 38 yards and a touchdown in Week 8. The Cowboys have been running three wide receiver sets all season, and Flournoy has been on the field for over 70% of the season. Flournoy has out-snapped Pickens the past two games. This guy should be rostered everywhere.

Other Wide Receivers to Consider

  • Chimere Dike, Tennessee Titans: Five receptions on six targets for 71 yards and a touchdown; Week 9 bye.
  • Demario Douglas, New England Patriots: Three receptions on three targets for 76 yards and a touchdown.
  • Adonai Mitchell, New York Jets: 9 targets, 7 receptions, 142 yards, TD
  • Jordan Watkins, San Francisco: 6 targets, 3 receptions, 56 yards
  • Mac Hollins, New England Patriots: coming back from injury

Wide Receiver Notes: Flournoy is a useful depth and a potential flex option. Dike has produced when the targets arrive, but Tennessee’s bye makes him a stash this week. Douglas can deliver big plays, but three targets don’t establish a dependable fantasy floor. Follow the opportunities here. Mitchell has a horrible matchup this week, and someone else seems to get the heaviest target share in the Jets’ offense each week. Let’s see who it is this week before plugging him into a lineup. If AJ Brown continues to miss time, Hollins could get a heavy workload. With Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel on the wrong side of questionable, Watkins becomes a potential WR streamer for Week 9. He is a flyer, but he led the team in WR snaps and targets in Week 7.

Tight Ends

Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals

Gesicki has scored in all six games in which he has received a target this season. Is he touchdown-dependent? Yes. Do the Bengals look for him near the end zone? Also, yes. His scoring involvement keeps him on the streaming radar, even if the touchdown streak eventually ends. You could certainly do worse.

Other Tight Ends to Consider

  • Michael Mayer, Las Vegas Raiders: Five receptions on six targets for 53 yards.
  • Greg Dulcich, Miami Dolphins: Approximately 6% rostered on Yahoo; at least four receptions in three straight games and a favorable Week 9 matchup against Detroit.
  • Eli Raridon, New England Patriots: Approximately 1% rostered on Yahoo; potential streaming option if Hunter Henry misses time with his foot injury.

Tight End Notes: Gesicki and Dulcich are my preferred immediate additions from this group. Dulcich offers a recent reception foundation and a Week 9 matchup against the Lions, who give up the most fantasy points to opposing teams’ tight ends. Raridon moves up the list if Henry is ruled out, especially with New England already dealing with receiver injuries. If Henry plays, Raridon’s priority drops considerably. Mayer still provides some standalone value.

My Priority Order

  1. Mike Washington Jr., RB
  2. Ryan Flournoy, WR
  3. Dylan Sampson, RB
  4. Kaelon Black, RB
  5. Emmett Johnson, RB
  6. Adonai Mitchell, WR
  7. Kenneth Gainwell, RB
  8. Mike Gesicki, TE
  9. Greg Dulcich, TE
  10. Eli Raridon, TE
  11. Malik Willis, QB
  12. Sam Darnold, QB
  13. Geno Smith, QB
  14. Gardner Minshew, QB
  15. Michael Mayer, TE
  16. Chimere Dike, WR
  17. Mac Hollins, WR
  18. Jordan Watkins, WR
