For most fantasy football leagues, the season is over. That being said, there are some leagues that extend to Week 18! Thus, it would behoove us to take a look at what is likely to be a chaotic week of fantasy football, right?
With some teams either having their playoff spot locked up or teams having nothing to play for, we don’t know what to expect this week. This applies greatly to the quarterback position, where several marquee players could either not play, or be taken out of the game early. That being said, with a potential fantasy football championship on the line, it’s imperative that you start the right quarterback.
With that, let us get to my Week 18 quarterback rankings! Who can help you seal a fantasy championship, and who should remain on your bench? Let us dive deep into it!
Week 18 Quarterback Notes
- Among the teams that could rest the quarterback this week: Packers (Aaron Rodgers), Eagles (Jalen Hurts), Bucs (Tom Brady), and the Bengals (Joe Burrow). If you have one of these four quarterbacks, you’ll want to have a strong backup option, and must be checking news reports throughout the week to figure out how much they’ll play. They’re all top-seven options in my Week 18 quarterback rankings assuming they play, but there is some extra risk.
- Will Trey Lance start again this week? The 21-year-old turned in a QB1 performance last week and averaged 10.8 yards/pass attempt, though he earned just a 59.7 PFF grade. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has insisted Jimmy Garoppolo will be the starter once his thumb injury heals, but if it’s Lance this week, he’ll remain a low-end QB1, even against a tough Rams defense. Garoppolo would slide in as a mid-range QB2.
- With a run-heavy offense the past three games despite facing two pass-funnel defenses in the Saints and Titans, it’s clear the Dolphins are losing trust in Tua Tagovailoa. Against the Patriots, I wouldn’t consider starting him this week.
- I’d assume that the Ravens, who have a very slim chance of making the playoffs, will shut down Lamar Jackson for Week 18. It would be Tyler Huntley back in the lineup, and he’ll serve as a high-end QB2 and an excellent backup plan if available on the waiver wire.
