Week 8 is here and that means another round of RB rankings from yours truly. The Week 8 bye isn’t too hectic in terms of running backs. Mainly Austin Ekeler is out this week and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. However, this week does have some tough matchups that you will need my help with.
This list can be used on who to pick up off waivers or which bench player you need to plug into your lineup. Trust me, every week matters now.
Running Back Notes:
- Kenneth Walker III jumps up to RB6 on my list this week. In just his last two weeks he has 265 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He doesn’t catch the ball much, but he runs the ball at a high level. This week he has the Giants, who have been a top defense this year. But, you got to roll with the hot hand.
- The big trade in Jacksonville jumps Travis Etienne Jr. up to RB15 this week. James Robinson is on his way to the Jets and that means this is Etienne’s backfield now. No more sharing the touches. Also in his last three weeks, he has put up over 100 scrimmage yards in each of those games. He has shown he can be the workhorse back. I see his carries going up from 10 per game to 17. Also this week the Jaguars have the Broncos, who do not look elite this year.
- Raheem Mostert ranks in my top 20 this week as my RB19. I will say, I was one to fall into the Chase Edmonds hole. But, after the last three weeks, Mostert has finished in the top 10 twice. This week he has the Lions who are giving up the second most fantasy points per game to running backs. Mostert is an RB1 this week.
- D’Onta Foreman had a great game last week, but be careful about starting him this week. Foreman and Chuba Hubbard both had solid games. Foreman was used heavily in the run game, but Hubbard was more active in the passing game. This could lower Foreman’s snaps. The Panthers also have a tough matchup against the Falcons this week. The Falcons are only giving up 18.7 fantasy points a game to running backs.
- Lastly, I have AJ Dillon as my RB35. Dillon has yet to put up double-digit points since Week 2. This week the Packers have the Bills, and I expect the Packers to be playing from behind. I would suggest trading Dillon in a package while he still has some value. But, going into Week 8, I would bench him.
