We’ve started off the month of March 0-2. It happens. There’s a lot of basketball left to be played, and money to be made. Last night, James Harden hit our line, exactly, for a push. Tyrese Haliburton was a DNP. And Russell Westbrook had his worst night as a Clipper. Minor setback, for a major comeback. Onward! With prop bets, we don’t need to wait for season-long storylines to play out. Every day is a new day. Fantrax wants to help you win a bit of money, so we will be giving you NBA Player Prop Bets every week. We’ll shy away from keying in on any particular sportsbook, as we know odds vary, and so do props. We’ll focus on our projections, and allow you to find your best odds. Let’s get into today’s prop bets.
NBA Player Prop Bets for March 3
Paolo Banchero OVER 15 Points:
This is a tricky one. Banchero is a heck of a talent, but he’s having an up-and-down year. There’s a lot of scoring variance for the rookie. He’s averaging 19.7PPG for the year, but his last five games of action have seen him score 9,29,19,11, and 13. It’s hard to set a line for that. But his matchup is just too juicy for me to ignore. The Magic are facing a Charlotte Hornets team that was tanking before they lost LaMelo Ball to injury. Now they’re just a vessel for opponent OVERs. The Hornets are 21st in defense and 4th in pace. That’s a recipe for the Magic’s best player (no disrespect to Wagner or Carter Jr.) to score. Banchero is averaging 18 PPG over his last five. I like playing it somewhat safe and expecting OVER 15 from him.
Spencer Dinwiddie UNDER 33 Points + Rebounds + Assists:
Speaking of variance, Spencer Dinwiddie has had his fair share of up-and-down games, since being acquired by the Nets. In the last five games, he’s had scoring totals of 11, 2, and 9. He’s also dropped 26 and 20 in that span. Tonight the Nets take on the East’s two seed: the Boston Celtics. The Celtics sport a 7th-ranked defense and also play at a relatively slow pace (19th-ranked). I don’t have an edge on whether or not Spencer Dinwiddie will have a solid scoring output, but I know against a team like Boston, it will be harder for the Nets’ role players to have solid nights. That means fewer peripheral stats for Dinwiddie (like assists). Dinwiddie has had fewer than 33PRA in four of his last five games. I feel comfortable rolling with that line tonight.
Anthony Edwards OVER 17 Points:
The Ant-Man is averaging just a shade under 25 PPG, but he’s had a bit of a shooting slump over his last couple of games (33% and 26% from the field). There’s no better team to break out of a slump against than the injury-plagued LA Lakers. The Lakers have an 18th-ranked defense and play with the 2nd fastest pace in the league, so we can expect a lot of possessions for the Wolves with average defense played against them. Ant has scored OVER 17 points in four of his last five games.
