MLB Injury Report

Aaron Hicks – OF Baltimore Orioles, Cedric Mullins – OF Baltimore Orioles

Both Hicks and Mullins continue to improve, however, both returns can be considered a setback. Hick was originally expected to miss a minimum of ten days while Mullins was thought to return at the beginning of August.

Boston Red Sox – Team Update

Lots to unpack here. First, Chris Sale had his first rehab appearance last night and threw two innings of shutout baseball. He struck out three batters while giving up two walks and one hit. He also threw 40 pitches and his fastball went as fast as 97 mph. Secondly, both Tanner Houck and Garrett Whitlock threw their own respective bullpen sessions yesterday, but their roles have yet to be defined. It’s been said that after the Trade Deadline, the team would know what they wanted to do with either of them.

Hunter Greene – SP Cincinnati Reds

There was no word on his velocity, but the overall numbers sound promising. We shall see how he fares against tougher competition and with a larger workload. He is eligible to return on August 17.

Josh Naylor – 1B Cleveland Guardians

Naylor is considered DTD while he deals with this side tightness, though no word yet on the severity of the issue.

Charlie Blackmon – OF Colorado Rockies

The setback from Blackmon will cost him some time, but it’s unclear as to how much. There will hopefully be updates today to understand more about the situation.

Griffin Canning – SP Los Angeles Angels

Canning missed his scheduled start on Monday and will now head to the Injured List for the next two weeks. The hope is that he is correct and that the injury is minor.

Brandon Nimmo – OF New York Mets

Consider Nimmo DTD while we await a more clear diagnosis based on how he feels today.

Starling Marte – OF New York Mets

Be prepared.

Josh Donaldson – 3B New York Yankees

Donaldosn last played a game on July 15 at Colorado. He was originally expected to miss the rest of the season. There’s a chance that he returns this year, much to the chagrin of Yankee fans everywhere.

J.T. Realmuto – C Philadelphia Phillies

The injury sounds painful, but also manageable once it heals. Until then, look for Realmuto to miss time.

Brendan Donovan – INF/OF St. Louis Cardinals

The news was surprising in that Donovan will miss the rest of the season with this injury. He has a torn flexor in his right elbow. The recently activated Tommy Edman appears to be their utility man now.

Nolan Gorman – 2B St. Louis Cardinals

Gorman looks like he will be ready for the Cardinals’ game later today.

Bo Bichette – SS Toronto Blue Jays

Bichette’s injury news was one of the best-case scenarios possible. With no structural damage, he could be back really soon. That said, a trip to the Injured List is still possible, so keep that in mind going forward. Still, with the recent addition of Paul DeJong, the Jays should have a replacement that won’t necessarily hurt them too much.
