2023 Fantasy Football: Week 4 Tight End Rankings (Saturday Update!)

Rookie tight ends made a splash in Week 3 as Sam LaPorta led the position, and Luke Musgrave finished as the TE11 in half-points per reception scoring. However, the week was ugly for starting tight ends, as backups Pharaoh Brown, Donald Parham Jr., Brevin Jordan, and Josh Oliver all vultured touchdowns and finished as top-12 options. Hopefully, the tight end universe will right itself this week. With that in mind, let’s take a look at my Week 4 tight end rankings and notes.

Tight End Notes

• George Kittle is coming off his best game of the season, catching seven of nine targets for 90 yards against the Giants on Thursday night. He has yet to score a touchdown on the year, but that’s likely to change this week. Kittle gets a tasty Week 4 matchup. He faces a mediocre Arizona defense that has given up the third-most receiving yards to tight ends this season. Additionally, Kittle smoked the Cardinals last season by scoring a pair of touchdowns in both meetings against the team. Kittle could have a monster day at the office in Week 4.
• Boy, oh boy, Sam LaPorta is sure looking good! He finished Week 3 as the TE1, catching eight of his 11 targets for 84 yards and a score. He also led the position with a whopping 36% target share. Overall, LaPorta is the TE2 on the young season, and he doesn’t look like he’s slowing down anytime soon. The rookie leads the position in receiving yards (186) and ranks second in target share (23%). LaPorta should continue to roll in Week 4 against a middle-of-the-pack Green Bay defense. LaPorta is quickly emerging as a weekly top-eight option moving forward.
• Luke Musgrave is coming off a solid Week 3 performance. He saw a season-high eight targets, catching six for 49 yards. He also played on 87% of snaps and 86% of routes. Musgrave will likely lose some targets once Christian Watson and Aaron Jones return, but his overall volume is encouraging. This week, Musgrave gets a favorable home matchup against Detroit. The Lions are a bottom-three unit that has given up the most receptions (25) and yards (263) to the position.
• If you’re looking for a Week 4 dart throw, look no further than Donald Parham Jr. He hasn’t seen more than three targets in a game this season, but the 6’8” tight end is a big red zone target for Justin Herbert. Parham scored twice in Week 3, and his three scores this season lead all tight ends. The touchdowns could keep coming this week against a Raiders defense that has given up the sixth-most fantasy points to tight ends on the year. Parham is boom-or-bust, but he plays in a high-octane offense and could get a few more looks with Mike Williams out for the season. You could do worse.
